Does anyone else out there get p***ed off with the Air Pumps available in petrol garages? I don't mind paying 20p, but for what? If they're not wildly inaccurate, they're so big and clunky it's difficult to connect to a bike without really bending the valve...... are there answers out there......

A small compressor at home which is still fiddly to fit the airhose onto the valve [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img] Should pay for itself in 312yrs.

Something like THIS, but wouldn't want to leave it on the bike all the time, and might be a pain to put on when you want to use it.
I use a Halfords compressor that plugs into a cigarette lighter socket. Over inflate by a couple of PSI, and then use my trust pressure gauge and let some out till i've got to the right PSI.
Note to self, check pressure when I get home...haven't checked them for a while [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

That'd do wonders for yer wheel balancing...
If you fit & remove, t'would be best to over inflate first to allow for the fiddlyness.

I've got a Halfords portable compressor (it's a car on, so isn't small enough to be kept on the bike. And also a little Halfords keyring style pressure gauge.
Halfords site is down for maintenance at the mo, so can't link to the exact items.
I like the Slime one linked above, looks really tidy, and a decent size!

TonyD put me on to that Slime compressor,,, it's compact,,,blew the car tyre up pretty fast....

Same here, and I've got a couple of those little CO2 cylinders under the seat for if I get a puncture when out and about. Must say I'm tempted by one of these little mini compressors though, I made quite a lot of use of Tony's when I had a slow puncture in Germany http://www.motopumps.com/

A bicycle track pump with a presta/schrader lock on head suits me.
topeak make one called a 'joe blow' and it is a rebuildable unit not too expensive.
90deg replacement valve units are the way to go when you put new tyres on as they get included in the balance.

Some 5 years later my stalwart foot pump is puffed out and has been scrapped. I have bought three replacements, including handpumps, which have all failed miserably.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a quality hand or foot pump? I am not even sure of Oxford quality.
