Possible, but Ventura label their product very specifically "not to be used as a backrest", they aren't made for heavy loads at all.

I've got a Ventura rack here for a TDM900, hardly used. Any takers?

it seems to me that most racks that I've seen are not supposed to take anything heavier that a few sandwiches and a can of diet cola, mind you it's only two stones throw to pick up the second one.

I was going to suggest the Corbin, looked at the original post though and saw it was a 1998 TDM... a Mk2
Corbin only has the seat for the Mk1 (US company, TDM's only sold here in 1992 and 1993)

Now there are seat makers and re-makers there,
take them the picture and they can probably modify your Mk2 seat with a 'Corbinesque' backrest. [Image: good.gif]

yes, just friends thanks.
my philosophy was .... happy pillion=no problems & an easy life for toneski.
also from a novice/safety point of view, she had only been on the bike for about 2hours before we went touring.
the bigger backrest helped as a guide so that she didnt try and counter-lean or anything stupid like that.

i'm sure there are enough non-innuendos in this post to keep emmett&co busy for a while [Image: tongue.gif]

To make her as comfy as possible I want to put a back rest on the bike.

I've looked at the back rests on the Givi range etc and they do not look they give that much cushioning. I do not want to change bikes if I can help it, (the amount of money I've spent on the bloody thing has seen to that!!!) Does anyone have any suggestions regarding this.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Gibbo i was looking at a parked up Virgin Taxibike in London a few years back (Yamaha FJR 1300) and it had a large backrest fitted which also incorporated a rack to carry a brief case, it looked to me like it was made from chromed tubing about 2 inches in diameter, it was in a fixed position but in my opinion could be made to be adjustable like car seat.
spyball alarm/immob,
bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir,
forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"
NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel
CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.

engine changed july 20
07 on a dyno run it made
79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I loike tay and hang sangwiches !
