Jeez Pete that's really bad news, looking forward to sitting in the man's corner with you.

Of more importance however is your health, hope you get whatever the issue is sorted soon, you can come out to play again after that.

Tell us when you're ready and we'll do a rerun of the "mills and moorland" together just to break you in gently

look after yourself and get well soon

all the best

Anyone got much experience of campsites in France? I'm going to be stopping overnight on the way down and the way back, is it actually worth booking one or they generally fine with you just turning up? I'm looking for one near Laval on the way down and there seems to be a municipal one and a couple of private ones in the area so I guess I'd have to be pretty unlucky if they were all full.

Of course I could just stop being a cheapskate and book myself in the Fasthotel for the grand sum of £36 euros but it seems a bit silly when I've got the tent on the back.

In early July you should be able to just turn up Chris
august is the really busy month
If you're stuck - just pitch up on one of those motorway 'aires' - they all have toilets & drinking water

Private sites in France have been good, not so happy with municipal ones. Sorry - had a guidebook but seem to have it no longer.

While I'm here can I wish everyone a memorable and safe trip. I'd love to have come along, but yesterday's 200 mile G2G day out with the maxi scooter brigade proved that the RTT09 agenda would have been beyond the limits of my stamina now. Towards the end I even came close to copying old "Hedgecutter" Larkins' trick, luckily without a pillion. . So, have a good 'un guys. many thanks to everybody for kind thoughts

nothing too serious lads but now just waiting for date for a scan for possible gall stones will certainly still be doing rideouts this year

Everybody have a great and safe RTT and uphold (my view of ) the TDM philosphy of "understate, underpromise and overdeliver"

all the best and look forward to the pics!

I've just a call from a rather sad Bob, TeDeum's friend, he's just been to the Docs and been diagnosed with a benign imbalance problem, linked to an inner ear issue.

Thankfully it is treatable and has a 90% success rate, but it does means he's having to pull out and won't now be joining us.

Bob was due to be sharing a cabin with me at Motocamp, so if any non-smoking, non-beltching, non-farting, non-sleepwalking person is after a cabin slot (with pre-booked bedding) please give me a shout.
