Any ideas for RTT 09??

Really enjoyed RTT08 so want to get loads of brownie points of SWMBO (starting early)

Rtt 09 - TonyDevil - 18-08-2008

discussions at RTT 08 included

Portugal
joining up with the German MT09 (deep south of DE)
Norway
Pyrenees
Scotland
?

If you have a preference (or a veto) please post up here
I purposely havent made this a poll so the voting is open for everyone to see

also if you have any experience of the areas mentioned and would be prepared to organise all/any/part of the RTT please also put that up in this topic

general requirements
bunkhouse or cheap B&B
camping
decent pub/bar/restuarant/cafe close by
nice biking roads

if you have any questions about what is expected then feel free to post in here
or pm a previous RTT manager or admin (TeDeum,TonyDevil,Hartside,JBX,Stu,Bondy,Dapleb,Guinness)
at some point the boss will be along to guide us in the correct direction

Rtt 09 - nanook - 18-08-2008

I've not yet been to a RTT as they take place in the summer and SWMBO will not give me have a weekend pass . If next year's gathering was to be in the spring then I could probably attend and also help organise it. Just a thought...

prefer somewhere in europe where we can more or less guarantee sunshine and

no rain

Rtt 09 - geordieguy - 18-08-2008

Scotland gets my vote.

Love Ireland and the Europe curcuits.

But.....

I would'nt mind somewhere easy to get to and relatively cheap, where they speak the same language and have the same £5 notes as us. Dont mind that we invaded them a few times, or play better football than them and can they can guarantee the weather, (to be wet).

Honestly, Scotland.... its the place to be..

We can do a few islands, Mull , Arran , Skye, beers good, people friendly, no exchange rate, insurance or breakdown cover worries.

What happend to F'nking Global warming, should be Global Wetting !!! F-ing Global Worriers...

Thats my two peneth.

Cheers, Ivan

Scotland = North and/or West Highlands? Accommodation = bunkhouse/cabins/rented place?? Applecross/Torridon + points north? Or is that too played-out for some?

Portugal would be nice. Downside = longish, possibly pricey ferry crossing.

German meeting could still be a venue - even in addition?

Rtt 09 - peterkelly - 18-08-2008

we are headed for dunnets bay in (very) far north of scotland in van fairly shortly so would prefer europe, as a change, being selfish

germany sounds really good and to meet local group will be helpful to say the least

I agree with pict - why not scotland in addition?

pete

Germany - may I suggest Harz Mountains region, and bunkhouse here http://www.hotel-harmoniebadgrund.org.uk/ (run by ex-journo Simon Fuller)

Portugal - go on, time it to coincide with the Faro bike do

Spain - so ChrisG can go and vent his weather frustrations http://www.carpe-tdm.net/ipb/index.php?sho...ic=6362&hl=

Hi guys

Why not FRANCE in the Dordogne in a bikers only camp site http://www.motocamp.com/motocamp.nsf
You wil have all the bases covered

Not to far away
Camping for those who want to camp
Rent a cabin (these are just posh garden sheds, but nice when you cant be bothered to put a tent up)
Rent a caravan for a bit more comfort
Excellent biking roads
A restaurant/bar on site (bar closes when you go to bed even if at 5am, food is good also)
Swimming pool

Disclamer here, I have no interest in the said camp site but have stayed here about 7 or 8 times and always had a good time and have always been made v welcome

If this is to far there is another bikers only campsite a bit closer to home in the north of france, but I dont know what its like as I have never been there

Mrs TeDeum says YES to the Dordogne and I think I agree. For us we can get the ferry from Ireland to France, enjoy a leisurely drive down (lunch in a Routier, dinner in a pension) good food and wine available and almost certainly hot and sunny. Yes please.

Rtt 09 - Sérgio Pedro - 19-08-2008

Well what can i say!

Portugal of course.

Outside of it i wouldn´t have company to go and it may be a bit of streach for the old wallet (changing jobs and the coursemonths will be base remuneration only - no extras).

And of course you would get someone to organize things around here, from top to bottom of the country we would have to see (oh my oh my the Peneda-Gerês Natural Park), but from about half of it downwards would be garanteed.

Think of joining the Faro getogether on that same trip too. That´s a real blast.

I believe the trip will be costly, but generally the beer and acomodation i believe to be cheaper that in all the places mentioned (If it happens you guys can PM me with the general cost of camping, food and of course beer to compare).

Annnddddd of course the weather.

Well that´s all i can put on he table.

Behave

Oigres
