Gary, yer biggest problem is the vicious little midgie barstewards. Camping will be just hellish and is summat I wouldn't contemplate in August. The little gits are at the apogee of their fury then and DO NOT take prisoners I can tell ya. You'll need to B&B it or go somewhere else if you really wanna camp.

Yes - early May preferably to avoid midges. Though with the late freezes this year the midge larvae may be reduced in number - fingers crossed.
But if you can't make it to Ecosse that early - then the Moray Firth coast east of Inverness - Portsoy and Cullen for example are great in summer. B) <b>AND Midge free</b> . But also mountain free - still beautiful though.
