Early or late is the secret Gary. I have been a few times in mid September and the lille burgers are a bit less frantic by then. They aren't like any midgies you have ever met.....they don't bother with the preliminary buzzing in yer ear lobes........its.....zapppp straight in for the bite.

The roads and scenery will do more than enough to compensate, specially as you head far North (and left a bit).
