I have a serious problem.. no working engine anymore
There are only a few TDM engines for sale.. could you tell me that does mk1 or trx850 engine fit into my mk2 year 1997 frame without (any bigger) modifications ?
well as far as i know (which is very little) a TRX enjun slots in with minor mods. dunno if a MKI enjun would fit yer MKII frame without alot of modding.
ps. welcome Slide, hope ya find what yer after.

TRX engine in DK spares at the moment, but he wants £800 + vat + delivery, low milage mint engine though, I had my eye on a cheaper one recently but it's sold now. TRX motor will fit fine though so keep looking.
I'm considering breaking my silver TDM, but there's a 100,000 miles on it. It runs lovely, and doesn't burn oil, but it's a bit rattly. Milage is probably a bit high for your needs though.

The TRX would prolly be the easiest swap as it has the same firing pattern and oil setup. The mkI will bolt in the same position but would need oil tank. CDI, etc also for mkI.
Where are you located? What is wrong with the old engine?
Cheers

Aye, but he sold a mk2 engine for £900 2 weeks ago, so he'll keep selling them for a load a money as long as people are buying them. He was a nice bloke too, I was chatting to another breaker last week about a cheap TRX motor and he was a pure sh*t-head. It is too much fer a motor though.
Thanks for help! So the safest choice is to keep looking for model -96-98 and TRXs engines.
£800 + VAT + delivery is a bit high price, but here near the polar circle would cost just the new parts about £1400 plus almoust the same for mechanic ! I could almoust buy a other used TDM with that money and all this trouble cause I bought the bike via middleman from Germany.. engine were allready a bit damaged.

Aye could be, I didn't even try and haggle, no point in haggling with that much money, unless he was going to half what he wanted for it, which is unlikely. I'm not that bothered about changing the engine at the moment though, I'm gonna stick with what I have fer now.
