Identifying your TDM
Any ideas on 5PSK 40 ?
R1 race/track bike and TDM 900. Previously more bikes than you can shake a stick at 😊
Been to look at a TDM850 today, the frame number started with 4EP.

Looked like a 3VD (on a 94 K plate) and it was down as an import on the logbook.

Can anyone tell me where this is from and whether there is any difference to a UK model?

Thanks.

Hm dunno, must be a euro import, so few went stateside, then again !! JBX

If you type tdm850 4ep in to Google search only Japanese text websites are shown so I guess a Japan only model.....hth
If it is a Japanese import the only difference I'm aware of is a speed limiter at 180kmh. Don't ask how I know this.

TDM 850 Loud and unusual. CRM 250r Woo hoo! DT 230 Lanza Fiddled with.... Bloody hell, is that legal? GG Randonee AKA "I didn't think that was possible".
Mine has a speed limiter, the bloody fuel pump! Currently looking at upgrade options, namely a electric one.

Frame # is 4EP 000223 so according to Haynes manual its old, early 1991.
Hi folks,

Hoping you can help! Long story short i need to apply for a new V5C for my 91/92 TDM850

On the form i need to fill out the VIN number of the bike.

On the VIN plate the number is 3VD-XXXXXX having looked in the Haynes and on here it would appear that they all seem to say there should be a number after the 3VD be it 1 2 3 etc

Can any one confirm if a VIN that is 3VD-XXXXXX with no number directly after the D is a valid VIN number

Thanks

I doubt it, 3VD is furra mk1 as 4tx is furra mk2, both part identifiers, VIN should have a number as far as i know, even if it was 3VD 0000001 for example, you looked at the engine or frame !! should be on both..

Just checked mine on the headstock plate and it's got a stamped series of numbers after the 3VD.
