Kinda reminds me of a bloke I know who cracked the sump on his K100 when crossing the railway line somewhere out near Cullen Bullen. At least the dog in the tank bag wasn't hurt.

At least that was only a couple of hours from home, still got the bike too. That event made me lose confidence for a while, it took a couple of sessions at Eastern Creek to get it all together again. I think it was a holed cam cover not a cracked sump, can't remember ever having the sump off the old girl.

Yeah, you're right. It would have been the cam cover. Damn that was a long time ago. 9 or 10 years?

It's a day that sticks in my mind for a lot of reasons. First there was light snow/sleet on Bells Line, and then all you lot with the knobbys on your BMs left me for dead on the dirt (more like wet clay) road out from Sofala to Hill End. Somewhere along that 40-50km stretch I had a wallaby bounce into me and head-butt my right foot. The impact jammed my foot and the wallabys' head in between the brake and the foot rest and I dragged the little bugger for 100m before finally kicking him free. Animal lovers don't stress. I watched the cheeky little bastard shake himself and get up and bounce away - totally unfazed. Beer and pool at the pub, and then your little incident on the way back. No wonder it's a day I remember.

'95 or '96. The K had a sidecar fitted till a couple of weeks after Easter 95, when I took it off. And we were still living in Guildford at the time I think and we been here in the mountains for 10 years last month. Can you remember if the K was white or black?
