Tracer 700 - TKH - 02-03-2020

Just seen the new Tracer 700. For some starnge reason I really like the look of it. Just not so sure about the £7800 price tag yet....

I can vouch for the engine. My MT-07 is 'smiles all the way'. And it does remind me of the TDM's. Quartermaster on here has one.

I really, really like my Tracer 700 and the new version adds a little extra sophistication, although not particularly needed. I've had  two TDM900s and enjoyed them immensely and, for me, the Tracer 700 is the natural successor. You can buy a new old style one for £6,500.

Looks wise I really can't get to grips with the thing for number plate and indicators sticking out like a spare bit added on afterwards, it seems to be the fashion nowadays.

Other than that yes I like it.

QM didn't you also own a Tracer 900 ferra while but preferred the 700?

Yup, the Tracer 900 was more sports tourer than adventure. Nice and roomy and absolutely loads of mid range stomp, but you are right Wicky, the 700, for me at least, was a more enjoyable ride and that "little" 700 motor is a peach.

Sometimes the smaller engine (with lighter weight and better handling) is the obvious answer. . I can vouch for the MT-07 being a good performer. in a group ride last year I turned off the motorway down a  270 degree turning off ramp, I had the TDM cranked over and was enjoying the grippy tyres, when a pal on an MT-07 came past me on the outside, banked over and was starting to accelerate long before the ramp straightened out. He only weighs 10 stone mind you. but lesson learnt, small and light is better in the corners !

For the time being I'm thinking the Tracer 700 would be my choice if I wanted a newer bike. It feels quicker than both my MkI and the 9'er, and soo easy to drive. If I knew I had only months left to live - maybe the 900 would be my choice. Activating the extra 40BHP is rarely a good choice for my use....nice, odd sound, though  Tongue - reminds me of the first bike of my dreams (and, the first big bike I rode) - a Suzuki 550GT.
