Just a mention to anyone out there that if you snap a clutch cable in Australia, it would be wise to have a spare on hand as I discovered a couple of days ago. It seems that keeping such a thing in stock is not a priority and you are off the road for a couple of days while they get it in from Sydney or Melbourne. Even the main parts dealer for Queensland didn't have one.
There were just 3 in the country - so I bought 2 of them with 1 being my spare. The cable wears near the top lug on the clutch lever.
I would suggest you buy one to have on the shelf just-in-case.
The bashing?
It is for the "bike" shops in Brisbane that are packed with kiddies who aren't interested in talking to you if you don't ride an R1; wear AlpineStar *everything* or want to pay their over-inflated prices.
The good result?
Caboolture Yamaha. Was $10 cheaper than the metro shops ($67 as opposed to $75-$80) and they have a clue. Guess where I am going for genuine parts in future?

I were looking at a cable repair kit, 2 spare lengths of inner cable and an assortment of different nipples, think it were only £10-£15.

Yes your so right about the Brisbane bike shops. This is because most of them are owned by same company.
I'm lucky and can do most of my maintenance myself. If I get stuck, I have a local guy who is old school. He'll try his best to fix anything before spending your money.
