Numb Bum Cure ? - bjorge - 20-06-2017 Aftermarket seat with gel padding is definately an improvement. Not like doubling the range, but a noticable improvement. On saturday I rode my Mk1 with TopSellerie rebuilt seat ~100kms, rode a 9er for an hour - I almost instantly felt my butt hurting. Homewards on the old cow, no butt ![]() Numb Bum Cure ? - dablik - 20-06-2017 Find it hard to believe you all turn into a bunch of wet wussies soon as you get your leg over a 9r sheepskin will sort you out..Numb Bum Cure ? - Robodene - 20-06-2017 I am still finding extra foam sheet padding a great success for up 3 hour rides ( I do no more). There's the little matter of 'bunching' at the rear of the seat too, so my pad is shorter than the seat - to allow some, er, overflow. Numb Bum Cure ? - erdferkel - 20-06-2017 My personal preference is a very firm padding. Shape is a big factor as well. But this is highly subjective. I can ride longer when I do not sink into the seat. I had the padding firmed up on all my bikes. Some friends consider them as comfortable as a wooden plank, so YMMV very much. To put this into perspective: on the pedal bikes I use saddles from road-racing bikes. (fizi:k arione) basically a plastic baseplate with a leather cover. The shape is perfect for my behind and I can do all-day rides without problems. The big and comfy gel saddles were instant discomfort for me. These perceptions were exactly reversed for a friend when we changed bikes for a short test on a little tour. Numb Bum Cure ? - Gauntlett - 20-06-2017 I have a DebbonAir seat cushion from Danmedicasouth, same as airhawk but less than £60, been using it for four years no problems, they also do gel inserts, etc, definitely reccomend Numb Bum Cure ? - peronne - 25-06-2017 Go for a 100 mile ride on an SV650 or Gladius & you will never complain about a TDM's seat ever again. The Suzuki seat designer was an expert in park benches before he worked there  Did 205 miles today on it & that was about the max pain limit. Cracking bike otherwise Numb Bum Cure ? - Robodene - 28-06-2017 I cannot resist changing the seat in one way or another. They're never quite right. Currently it's an overlay of extra neoprene foam with a covering of neoprene sheet. Looks a bit odd but it's all black and it works well. Might be worth considering, Sam? |
