Can anyone make recommendations for european brake down cover to include repatriation if necessary, only looking for single trip cover.....so if you have used anybody in particular and have good or bad experiences perhaps you would care to share. Tips and advice appreciated.
Cheers all

I had trouble with a van in france about three years ago. I was with RAC and they were excellent. I would use them again but my insurance company (carrol nash) provide breakdown with the insurance. I would be interested to know if they are any good
Friend of mine had himself and his bike seperately repatriated from SW France (Marmande) last year by Carol Nash. He speaks very highly of their service.
You might also look at Footman James Insurance for a quote they do a similiar service. I found them a bit cheaper than CN but not had to test them...touch wood
Also check the small print ferry carefully. Quite often they stipulate "recovery to the value of the boike", which in the case of us mkI'ers is a push 10 feet down the 'ard soldier.
Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.
CN have been excellent both home & abroad in my experience & those of my mates
They also keep you constantly updated by text & phonecalls, which is reassuring when you're in a foreign country .

Okay i am just gonna hate finding cover, for anybody who can guess the correct cost to repatriate ( should the need ever arise of course) Bigred from ZONE 1 of Europe but in this case Germany was specifically quoted, i will give a big fat creamy yummy cake......and Moose ya only get 1 guess fella, no cheating .
This from the nice chaps at the RAC and the cost for one trip cover £110.
Oh boy lots more looking to do, there so very vague on the finer details.

Off to Slovakia next week with me nephew to see the in-laws, nephew working in London Thursday so he going on his bike and i will find a hotel in folkestone for the night, next day on the train to Calais and straight over to the Black Forest for a night, then off again either down to Austria or maybe take a night in Czech, not decided yet, dependent on weather also, then off to Presov in East Slovakia, so i hope the bloody weather will play nice......was snowing a few days ago in Presov. Will then leave nephew there and head back to Germany to meet up with some friends from the good old days......ah German beer
Actually March is normally the driest month in Germany so could get lucky

Just renewed my insurance with AQuote and I've got Breakdown/Repatriation cover for europe. UK cover was £39 and European cover £55. That's through the RAC.
Young lady said it's not the age of the bike, it's the value. Mine's insured for £1200. In her opinion it is very unlikely to cost more than that to get my bike home.
I hope I never have to find out

Interesting Studley.....i spoke to the RAC and they want £110 for a one of trip to cover Europe ( zone 1 and 2) the value of the bike according to Parkers or similar is £1000.
RAC reckon it would cost approx £650 to repatriate me from southern Germany......which i find highly unlikely.
Will have to sort it out tomorrow for sure.

It's a tad worrying in a way, having a low value bike and the cost of repatriation. It's like you've got to draw an imaginary line on the map where you think you'll be covered
I added a couple of hundred to my bike's ins. value in a vain attempt to cover the excess if I ever claim
The battery died on my Mk2 a few years ago outside a cafe at the bottom of a hill in SW France... Rang CN and they sent some locals with jump leads and a couple of batteries to try... We were back on the road within about half an hour of ringing. Excellent service IMHO!

Me and the misses are going to France over easter. We're with the AA, covered for any vehicle so I thought I'd be able to geta good deal out of them. Cover for 4 days will cost £32 each. Don't think I'll bother.
However I'm watching this thread.

I did have a good look at the ADAC and would defo go with them except......it's an annual subscription, so if you havent cancelled a previous policy with them (which i had) i could be slapped with a very hefty bill after 10 years, so it looks like the AA for me.Anyway it's a precaution only as i dont expect to have any problems, ya just never know.If i were taking out a new Insurance policy i could be covered for £49 but as thats not up till July its cheaper to dish out the 100 sods, fk that's a lot of german beer.A point of interest for those of you that visit the Ring in Germany, if you have ADAC cover it will get you schlepped of the ring if needs be, normally this would be at cost and is expensive.

I had travel insurance with the AA for years and then I read the small print. I was covered on any motorcycle up to 150cc! Carole Gash now.

So finally i have settled for the AA.£90.00.....the RAC wanted £250 excess so they can swivel.........searched high and low and nothing else comes close for the age of the bike, unless i was renewing my insurance policy. The german ADAC would be the way to go if only i knew if i cancelled last time, but think i didnt and knowing German efficiency as i do they would still have me down as owing a kazzilion duetche marks, they once tried to collect 10 years road tax from me for a german registered car which i scrapped in england.
Anyway sorted now, hope i wont be needing it.
