'yellow' Tdm 1996/97
The original yamaha yellow paint colour is 'Reddish yellow cocktail' but when Halfords mix it, it comes out nothing like the original (very green). Even when shown the difference they would only offer a credit note (after a lot of arguing). Their sample sheet is the same as the original yellow...but go elswhere.

Just wondering, are you commenting on the colour after you've painted summat, or from what it looks like in the tin ?

I've read other stories about poor colour match wi Halfords.
Im with Studs, tell us the story. Did you not see the 12 year old mixing the colour before you took it away?
The guy mixing seemed to know what he was doing and I think he was older than 12
When I went back for a refund he mixed another 100ml and he agreed it looked the same colour in the jar (greenish yellow) as the the dustpan I had painted to test (after priming of course ). There's clearly a mistake with the mix amounts they have for 'reddish yellow cocktail). It was the manager who was being an arse about the refund.
I really like doing things myself, but today I gave in and enquired at a local recommended garage. The guy has plenty of experience of doing bikes. He looked up 'reddish yellow cocktail' and found that it takes 3 stages/colours, but would be no problem to do. I haggled a really good price for the nose cone, tail panels and grabrail.
Main problem was my nosecone had a scrape and most of the paint had sun bleached. (Bike kept outside I suspect)
This winter project will be finished when these panels get re-fitted wooohooo
