Maybe Hartside and I are expecting too much to ask folk to commit to a run but it's understandable because we're not staying over at Bellinham and in my case I'll be travelling around 110 miles each way to meet up for the run and leaving home about 7 am . I need to know that there will be folk turning up.

Sometimes there needs to be some organisation. Last year no-one decided on a route until we we're sitting on our bikes in the campsite after breakfast.
Then it was hit and miss with folk going off in different directions at junctions and no pre arranged rendezvous points.

I want to do the lakes rather than the same roads we covered last year. The chance to ride some of the back roads round the lakes with a guide who knows the area (Hartside) is too good to miss and not an opportunity I'm liable to have again.

Sorry for being a greetin face but that's the way I see it .

Now : Nowt
Then : Yamaha TDM850 4TX , Suzuki GSF1200N Bandit , Yamaha TDM850 3VD , Yamaha 600 Fazer , Suzuki GSXR750G , Honda CB1100F , BMW R75/5 , Yamaha RD250E , Yamaha XS250 , Kawasaki Z250C , Lambretta GP150 , Vespa 150 Super
Good point about the restaurant Ivan - I just phoned them and booked for around 15/18 bodies on SATURDAY at 8.00

FRIDAY could be a problem - it's pretty booked up! She'll do what she can.

Mark - do you think the Lakes Run will be fairly quiet, or will the roads be busy with weekend Mondeo drivers?

I'd put your gear in a water proof bag and hide from Tony & Hutch.

Please accept apologise but because of circumstances completely in my control I will not be able to do the overnighter. I will try and meet up on Saturday at Hartside and do the lakes run before travelling back home. I will explain all to those interested at Hartside when we join up but I assure you its good. Just worked it out at 606 km but at least no one will be able to say I dropped out.

Me & The Appetite will be coming up on the Saturday, but will be too late for any ride-outs, so we'll just pitch the tent & meet you all for a natter, pint & a meal if that's OK.

Be grateful if someone could book 2 extra seats in the restaurant for Saturday night though.

Tony,

Myself and my mate will be joining you and going north. Mate Andy ain't been to Scotland before, so this will be his first trip across the border (told him he needs to take his passport !!).

We're going across to the lakes on Sun PM and Monday, then wandering back south on Tuesday.

wathers still looking good fo r the weekend, but not sure about the following two days, looks like i'm getting wet. . .

the lakes is the lakes sometimes you can get a good clear run and other times it can be packed (it's not a bank holiday weekend so thats a help) anyway you ride a bike and therefore there is no such thing as a traffic jam LOL.

to be honest it has been really quiet around the lakes of late , most places are begging for business as its been a bit of a washout this year.

seasonally around sept / oct its a lot quieter than june to aug and the 2006 run in july wasnt that bad was it ??

<!--sizeo:3--><!--/sizeo-->the REASON I suggested the lakes was a few requests from last year and a few from this year, I am not trying to split any group or cause any aggro, I am more than happy to take 1 bike round or 20 bikes round, it matters naught to me. I never tire of the lakes cos i find a new road or a new sight or a sight in different light everytime i go.
<!--sizec--><!--/sizec-->
the only thing i dislike is sitting waiting at a meeting point aimlessly when i could be riding

Yeah I've just repacked with some extra waterpoofs as I'm not home 'til Monday night either. Pissing it down with rain all afternoon here, hoping it'll have stopped by the time I set off in the morning.

As for Aircooled's packing woes, you aint gonna like me. E45 topbox, pair of E36 panniers, 50 litre Ortlieb bag and tank bag. I really need to start packing lighter

If you're using a rollmat then roll it around the outside of the tent and sleeping bag to reduce space. If expecting rain accept that your tankbag and topbox probably aren't waterproof and pack in bags. Topboxes usually have a lip around the middle that is just the right size to hook a cargo net on to, you can strap a fair bit on top.
