Chris, have you had any thoughts on ride-out routes?

Stu

Ah, to be sure now 'tis a secret between himself an' de Little People.

Rumour has it he's been roaming a wide area, downing pints, scoffing seafood and going to the limits on cakes - in short, dedicating himself selflessly to the cause....

Yes! I have lots of routes worked out based on my favourite roads and places to get coffee and cake. Bearing in mind this will be a week long event and that people will be coming and going over the week I plan to offer some major rides and lots of minor ones which will give people an opportunity to explore and enjoy what is a beautiful part of a beautiful country. If anybody has any ideas of places they might like to visit or routes they have enjoyed around here then pm me with them. Pict had a good idea that we might agree to meet somewhere for a late lunch some day and make our own way to the chosen eaterie and compare routes for going back.

Let me know if I have missed anybody. There are others interested some of whom I have to pm. I suppose the Irish members will turn up at some point and I have a few mates locally who will be along from time to time. Not quite as many as the German forum though!

Phil, who has a cafe in the village, has offered to do breakfasts if people wanted it and also to do a set meal in the evenings just for us. I'd need to know if there would be any interest in this to give him an idea of numbers. It would probably work out cheaper than eating in the pubs which are catering for the holiday trade and families at that time of the year and we would be lucky to get to eat together any other way, if that was what people wanted.

There are still places in the hostel and loads of camping spaces.

Are the routes a secret then?

I was a bit concerned when you felt the Mallow - Killarney road might be a bit challenging - I had a hoot on there in the car last week. To assess your favourite roads we'd need to see a pic of your chicken strips Isn't it traditional that someone ends in the hedge?

How about this or that?

First one includes what was an interesting detour on the way to Mizen Head a few years ago, the second was a large part of a charity run last month, and passes Beal na Blath. It could be extended to Blarney as a mid-point too.

Phil's cafe sounds ideal. As long as it's not lamb stew

Phils cafe (sign to be replaced with RTT Eatery) sounds like a good idea to me
