E-mail warnings may not be what they seem..
Guys, I've just opened an e-mail from a friend!! that was supposed to be a warning about a new virus. Instead of checking it first I just read it.
For the IT-lovers, it trashed the MBR so I used the recovery console on the Windows setup and ran "FIXMBR".
For Luddites and normal people, your PC will tell you "NTLDR is missing" and will not start up as normal (Get hold of a geek).
I have everything running (corporate versions, no less) but it got past the automatic e-mail washer etc.
If you want more detail, PM me.
Them virus writers are b'stards, trouble with emails like that is, as they are infecting your P.C they are going through your address book and emailing themselves out to everybody on it as well [Image: ranting.gif]

Thanks for the headsup [Image: smile.gif] Do you know what the virus is called, or what the attachement is?
There's no attachment!! and it also hijacked my home page: I ran virus checker (I have Symantec corporate version) which didn't pick anything up (it had also got through the "auto e-mail protect") and I ran Ad-aware (Corporate version) - nothing! So in the end I used Restore and we're ok again. Details escape me now- D'oh!! but it was a very genuine message from the person I recieve the most mail from, whom I know has good security, so I know it must be good at it's job. I think I'll set up a new rule for e-mail alerts. Sorry I can't help with more detail, but I reacted rather badly to having my PC refuse to flash up after the rebuilding work I put in recently.
