another medical update;
Â
Just like colonial Steve Austin, i have been rebuilt, or got a right hip replacement.
I'm a little sore for the moment but its my second one so I know the SP.
OP went went, i woke up when they were internally stitching me up but as i had a spinal, never felt anything just lots of tugging.
Hopefully 2024 will have less impact on the body.

Having new bits means your average age is now lower.
Good luck, and do what the physio tells you.

update;
It's been exactly a week since the operation and went out shopping on my own.
Drove there and got myself a shopping cart which i used as a support vehicle
Â
Sleep is getting better, only waking once to take paracetamol, no drugs during the day now.
I can't believe how easy this has gone. I think all that weight training prior and swimming has allowed me to have core stability and recover quickly.
Â
At this stage, I'll be back in work end of January.

I know of people sent for gym sessions before a hip replacement to build up muscle as it makes the recovery much easier, your cycling must have done you huge favours on that front.
I was always amazed at how well one of my dogs did when he shattered his pelvis as the took the ball off the end of the femur and left him with just the muscle sling to support that corner, after a good few weeks he was running around like a nutter again, about 8 years later we had the vet go in and clean up the bone spurs that had grown as he kept hurting himself running and then he was back off like a nutter again.

Very glad you are progressing so well. Perhaps you are one of those who mend quickly, if partly due to you own efforts.Â
