Ouch indeed !  But I got a pattern one a few years ago and it stretched like knicker elastic. I made it back to base with half the strands of the inner cable broken. So I'm most reluctant to go for another pattern one. However I do like Venhill stuff so if they can make me up a beefy replacement I'll go with them.  They don't list a cable for my 1991 TDM.

But if it's £50.00 that's the price for reliability.

 

Measure up curly and you can order custom sizes from Venhill.

Worth it Chris imho.  I've bought the SlinkyGlide ones and the diameter of the inner cable is half that of OEM.

Update on my knock…it was the shock that was-a-knocking! 

 

Not today, but over the last couple of days it’s had an MT09 Ohlins (supplied by Fixitsan) fitted on the rear which cured the knock and some YSS emulators fitted in the forks. Much improved ride quality, especially from the Ohlins, whilst feeling controlled and grippy. All in all, well pleased and it’s been fun setting it all up on the twisties.

soldered some white leds on the rear lamp.

mot said i had no number plate lamp and two LEDs were out which was wired in series causing all of the to go out. I temp fixed by running solder across them whist I ordered now lamps.

 

10 mins later, all in and working a treat

Removed and stripped down forks fitted new bushes and seal, then out for test ride 60miles later all sorted

Don't love how it looks but I don't hate it either...but then I remember last summer when I was invited along on a pack ride with a local MC (good mates a member but not my thing) one of the fellas said that 'tdms look like a motorcycle f****d a transformer and gave birth to that' Charming eh.

I was going to say something similar. A TDM ain’t pretty, but at least it doesn’t look like they couldn’t be bothered to cover up the scaffolding like on some of the newer stuff.

I still like the original Multistrada and I think Glynn Kerr had a hand in the design. I actually went as far as looking at classifieds for a Multistrada before I came to my senses.

I'll be interested in how you get on with the "screen thingy", I've been thinking about fitting one to my bike. I'm especially intetested in what the noise levels are like. What size is your screen, is that the small one or medium?

Have done a bit of testing locally and it was better straight away. I have two screens, one MRA double bubble and one givi tall. I'm going up to triumph factory tour tomoz and will try out the givi tall screen but there was a noticeable difference in wind noise with the smaller MRA screen. Couple of caveats though...



Palmers site says don't use anything but stock screen or one of his, I'm sure that's just to cover himself as the tall screen he sells is the same height at my givi



I prefer the look of my tinted screen but not being able to see through it presents a problem at the medium and high setting. Will let you know how I get on tomoz ..

Took the 9er for it's MOT. Started fine until I was about a mile down the road and then intermittent misfire (left side).

 

Came back with a new MOT and a two plugs to fit when I have a minute.  I originally thought the problem was the fuel going off as it hasn't been used for some time, but as it only appears to be from one side, that's unlikely.

 

I've never changed the plugs before. I believe you remove all the radiator bolts so you can pull it forward to get access and then look forward to skinned knuckles. Any other advice?

I use a box key so I can get a spanner on the end makes it so much easier to get em out - plugs are pretty much a fit n forget part these days ...carefull how far you pull the radiator for the fan wiring :good:

 

If your bike ran ok coming home, I'd tend to leave it as is.
