Devastating news  RIP

So sad. Never met Wicky in person, but I remember he was the first to greet me many years ago when I joined this forum.

RIP

Thanks for posting up the link Alan.  I was just about to post it up.
Bugger, my turn to say something I suppose.

I have been a minor member on the periphery of this group for many years.

A few times I strayed away and changed TDMs. Later I strayed away from from TDMs altogether (though I can never walk past one without checking it out)

Amongst all that straying and life going on along the way I always came back to the forum to be grounded and realise that everyone else's life ticks along and changes as well.

There was a constant when I passed through..... a committed lunatic, always hopeful that it would soon be time for jizzy rascal but in the mean time who needs a welcome or some help...

My last time in need was fund raising with car stickers for bikers to get my daughter off to Kenya on Camps International. Who was here to support but the one who welcomed me in in the first place... Ken of course.

Hope you enjoyed life as much as it seemed you did.

Go well my virtual friend and thanks for everything you did...

You will be missed out there.
It went E,S,E,S,A
Thanks for popping the link up. Just popped a few quid to the air ambulance for Ken.

I'm not really one for saying a lot about most people, but feel compelled to add some words about Ken.  He'd been a sportin' member on Carpe-TDM before I even joined the club in 2007 and I always enjoyed reading his posts and his never ending requests for pics. His banter was top notch and he was always asking questions about TDM's Always there to welcome new members and always ready to help others with their bikes. We messaged at times, usually something to do with carbs, or related to what was going on and he friended me on Facebook as soon as he knew I had joined, but I never got to actually met the big man until 3 weeks ago, just before his tragic accident.

I'd gone to Wales to join the CMC lads for their annual Snowjoke weekend. During that time I got to spend a good few hours on the Saturday morning sat chewing the fat with Ken.  He talked warmly about how he'd met Mole, working in London with photocopiers and fax machines. How he'd helped a guy who was trapped under a tiller, modestly commenting that his actions had probably saved his life. His love of TDM's how gutted he'd felt for Dabbers when his mk1 project had gone tits up and how he saw himself as a custodian of TDM parts that he would just hold onto until somebody wanted a part and he'd help them out.  He even went and helped a guy sort his carbs out knowing he didn't know an awful lot about them.

He also talked passionately about Dappers and Spongey and their times together.  There was much more talked about and I came away feeling I'd known him for years, he made you feel like that.

I'm so pleased I met Ken, a big man with a big heart.

Tonight I'll be raising a glass of his favourite wine and a few Irish Whiskeys in his memory.

My deepest sympathies to Mole, his family and friends.

I don't normally join in the RIPs on facebook and forums for people I never knew but this is completely different. I only met Ken the once on a ride out maybe as far back as 2006/7 but having met him I could always hear him when I read his posts. As many have said he was always quick to help others out and will be sorely missed by his many friends and family.

RIP Wicky

So sad to read this, had a few exchanges with him in the past. Awful news.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Just got the details of Ken's funeral via Mole on Facebook.....

It is with great sadness that I have to let you all know the details of Ken's funeral.

It will be on Wednesday 3rd August at 3.15pm at East Devon Crematorium, Whimple, Devon EX5 2PT. This was Ken's choice as it is light and surrounded by fields and trees. Everyone is welcome and it would be lovely to see you all, many of whom I and his family have not met. Ken would want you to dress in his unique style (suit not required!) but unlike him, he'd like you to be on time!

For Ken's last party, we would like you to join us at The Half Moon Inn at Cheriton Fitzpaine, EX17 4JW where he would say "I'm going for a pint and to chew the fat". There will obviously be sausage rolls and plenty of homemade cake, he may even put a pint in for you. I would like to gather some photos from you all, so if you can, please bring one to the pub and we'll put it up on a board, it would be lovely if you could leave it, so make sure it's a copy. Parking will be signed as it's a small village, please don't block roads.

Ken didn't want flowers and we would ask that you donate to the Devon Air Ambulance, either at the service, the pub or via the link www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Mole-Hogan which is dedicated to Ken and also a way of thanking the crew for their help on the day of his accident and the support I have received since. Ken would want to "pass it on" to help the next person who needs their help.

My last request is that I find out roughly how many of you will be coming. If you could put a comment on this page or on my own (Mole Hogan) I will do a head count for chairs and cake. Let me know if you are bringing anyone with you.

I want to thank all of you, his friends, family and colleagues from the biking groups, tree world and communities that he has lived in for your love, support and endless comments on his love for life and cake, his boxer shorts and pink crocks. You have lifted me at such an awful time, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Please remember this is Ken's farewell, it will be as unique as he was and always will be to us.

Keep Safe,

Mole
Wish I could attend. Best to Mole and his family. Just devastasting, no words. RIP. Espen
2002 TDM 900 Red/Yellow Cocktail (it's yellow)., biggified some
Unfortunately there's too many colleagues on holiday in Edinburgh so I need to cover or I would have made a good attempt to ride down there.

My thoughts will be there on the day

I'll be going down to Ken's funeral and the wake, I'm staying in Silverton if anyone else is going.
I've read through this thread 10 times each time hoping for a different outcome

Had the pleasure of meeting wicky a few times an I'll never forget them, he was such a funny guy with seemingly endless stories

Rip Ken, hope you are reunited with your cat on the other side
