Quote:I've only dipped in to the early bits of this thread due to being a relative newbie and that is no small rebuild you've done, and all outside.

I'd have thought twice and have 2 sheds and a garage with electric and work in an engine shop, my hat is well and truly off to you, even dabbled in a tad of covid just give yourself an excuse to slack off but got there and it's now sweet.

Get out there and enjoy it, you've bloody well earned it, don't worry about insurance values it's there for riding not worrying.

Thanks Dave, i did get to put the engine back together in the office upstairs but that's it, often felt like dousing the bike in petrol and setting it alight  Smile the weathers not kind to her outside so i'll forever be fettling, have plans to redo the seat next year along with a bit of repainting me thinks and odds and sods, love the mk2 rear sprocket as acceleration is lubberly but the wallet dont like it, i'm average 43 miles per gallon just now  :unsure2:

...and I thought I have a problem doing 53MPG....😱
Bjørge
I doubt I get near that mpg as mine seems to guzzle fuel, that said I don't do big distances but give a lot of grief on local fun runs.

Treat em mean and all that.

Because if you look at carbs set up oem it's the right bowl, some people swap them over for easier access to the drain off screws, me included.

In hindsight i'm glad i go tthe title of the thread right at least  Big Grin

Me thinks lots of metal floating about, lot of oil blown onto the front of the engine below the exhausts and above the sump an all.

So that's the end of that now, need to make space for a new bike...

Not sure to be honest Ken, i'm beginning to suspect a gasket blow judging by the amount of oil on the front, plenty drained off though when i emptied the oil so dont think oil starvation unless the oil pump went west, oil filter was a bit squashed as well, will  know more later in the summer when i pull the engine apart..

Every bearing is new, wheels, head bearings, swing arm, fork stantions and all bushes, new cush rubbers, er new timing chain, new coil, mosfet reg/rec etc, wiring loom was stripped and gone over, re-wrapped, every engine seal replaced...lots of stuff Dave, no matter i still have to say i really enjoyed pulling it to bits and rebuilding bar the frustration but as a layman and rebuilding from the Haynes i'm glad i did it, as i've said before if i was'nt stuck outside i would still fix it, shame i've nowhere to keep it a few years until retirement, however i have to make space so i'm breaking her and will sell off the parts.........being replaced with a Himalayan, slow and simple...
