Sena Smh10
My (ancient) Sena SMH10 seems to have developed an intermittent fault and I was wondering about a replacement with voice response (google etc.). I'm looking for a headset with OK Google for navigation etc. while on the move

I would like read your opinions/experiences on other systems.

I don't need to communicate with others or pillion as I generally travel alone.

Standby life is important also battery life while riding.

SMH10 lasts ages in standby and easily does 20hrs use before a charge, (I've never run out of battery in use so I can't say how good).

Thanks in advance Smile

I recently purchased a Q1 'teamset' pair for £99.99

It worked really well for a weekend, long battery life.

If you only want one rider unit i think you can sell the second unit from this kit for £50 if you can be bothered

Just checked flea bay £119 or offers  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164290178736?...Swe75fDuN~

Thanks Fixitsan - a good replacement :good:  - sadly missing the google function Confusedorry:

Oops, my oversight.....but if you shout loud enough someone somewhere might hear you ? Wink

EDIT, I just tested the voice input method, it works on Google when you have opened the google search box on your phone, then it will listen and take instructions through the helmet microphone. I think it might be awkward though, unlocking your phone while riding ?

Yeah Chris the ability to unlock via bluetooth command "OK Google" seems to be the harder/most expensive option.

I wouldn't say its an updated version, different, the SMH10 allows you to connect and speak to other riders, this one doesn't

Sena have a confusing model range, and it appears this model has a firmware update that give you limited intercom up to a 100m so more suitable for a pillion.

On my Samsung Galaxy I have a Smartlock function which allows trusted devices to unlock the phone - this works with my Sena headsets, but I'm not sure which other phones have this;

Good shout !

I just checked this, my Samsung A20e does not have that option,  (I'll try and update it to see if it appears later)

Ta

Smart Lock is enabled (S20+5G),  but Sena SMH10 still not working as required - headset button press will open Google Assistant but assistant will not respond to voice over bluetooth.

Internet research of the Cardo Packtalk reveals that folk are having problems with OK & Hey Google  voice  command recognition . I think I'll stay with the Sena unit and stop to adjust course = saving a couple of hundred pounds

Ta for the input  :good:

I've got to be honest, I haven't tried it for a while and it does seem a bit flaky.

I did resist an intercom for years, having seen plenty of people struggling to get them to work - they always seemed like another bit of tech to stop working. Now I've got one I'd be lost without it - my son hasn't got one and it was a real pain not being able to talk.

His sister's upset though - I told her there was no such thing as bike intercoms when she used  to ride pillion with me!
