Forgot I had this, yesterday in Glencoe I could see a white pickup dithering at the side of the road so applied the brakes and moved to the centre, just as well i did !
Do you get the motorcycle guide lines, the two broken chevron lines, down in England too ? There to guide motorcyclists on a safe line through many corners up there

So that's what they're called. I did see them last year but hadn't thought they were just a trial. Most riders seemed to ride in accordance with the suggested line, so if it saves a few head-ons of people too close to the middle hitting oncoming traffic they can only be a good thing...as long as they don't get slippy in the wet

The write up suggests 2/3rds of riders were a part of a larger group, so i wonder if they're targeting riders who maybe try to outrun another group member in a bend ? The signs seem to encourage a single file formation. Time will tell when they let the secret out !
Took it for a 5 1/2 hour, 265 mile round trip from Tomintoul to the Premier Inn at South Queensferry to try out my new Shoei GT Air 2 helmet and also collect my wife's Samsung tablet that she conveniently left behind in our hotel room on Monday.ð¤¬
At least it gave me a chance to have a good long run on the bike and check out a few things. Overall the bike ran great and managed 75mpg running down the A9 at a steady 60mph.ð¤ The suspension was fine on smooth surfaces but hitting the odd pothole or sharp edged repair patch was another matter.ð® The front forks have ATF fluid in them but are too stiff for me so will be planning to go back to 10 wt fork oil. The rear shock works but needs replacing. I had a Maxton shock fitted to my Mk2 850 with race tech emulators in the front forks so was a bit spoiled on the suspension front.ð
Came back up my favorite road, the A93 thru Blairgowrie, past Glenshee ski centre to Braemar and then onto the A939 to the Lecht ski centre and home. Overall a great day but my arse was aching by the time I got home so might have to look at doing something with the seat or alternatively eat more cakes and pies and build up a bit of padding.ð¤£

Trying to be smart by ordering an MT-09 type, which has the same physical dimensions and fixings, but I've spec'd it with a custom spring of 180mm long, 140 N/mm.
Standard MT09 = 90N/mm, STandard TDM900 = 130 N/mm, so I've gone up a little on spring size to accom my weight.
Cheaper than any other Ohlins I can buy for a TDM900, at £414.50

The Ohlins shock type is YA335, it has the spring preload adjuster nut at the bottom of the spring, so not sure if that's going to be restrictive but I guess I'll found out when it gets here !

The Ohlins spring is 01096-54Â (01096 = 180mm long, 5mm shorter than standard...... 54 = Ohlins rating of 140N/mm)
Took mine out for a little ride over to the Smokehouse at Ormesby (it's a very good smokehouse and worth a visit if you're in the area) for their bike night and to hear our very own Captain Slow playing bass with his other band. Good night and some good tunes and a decent turnout too.Â
Got to the petrol station and after filling up I had a quick look over the bike before heading off on my ride.
After last weeks pillion battering (32 stone of weight at least, 200+kg) the tyre wear increased dramatically.
Maybe a mistake by me to read the presence of the small sipes running from the centre intermittently as evidence of rubber depth, but the belting shows through even then. Tyre was inflated to 37psi. Looks like it may have been out of balance perhaps ?
It's worn noticeably more on the right side than the left, and it's the same story at the front has too, so I'm still weak on the left handers. I had the same issue with the KTM, both tyres wore more on the right than the left

I'm working in Peterborough this week and taking the wheels and a fresh pair of tyres to be fitted while I'm at work, can anyone recommend a £10 fitting service ?

I'm pretty even wearing the sides as it's always the middle to go first.
Got some tyres fitted this week in Peterborough at Bikes and Trikes 'n Stuff (hopei remembered it correctly)
Very fast and efficient service for £15 each, I supplied rhe new Angel GTs
According to parcel tracking info my MT-09 based Ohlins arrives tomorrow.
Hope I haven't cocked up with the measurements but according to catalogues theyre a straight swap apart from the spring so it might give another option for TDM replacement shocks going into the future.
Hopefully I get home from Peterborough early enough tomorriw to try it, or else it'll be Saturday
