Les Craib Rip

<div style="font-family:inherit;">Some of you may remember Les Craib from Buckie in the N East of Scotland.

</div>

<div style="font-family:inherit;">Les wasn't a prolific member on Carpe as he wasn't the most computer literate but he met up with a bunch of us at an Aviemore meeting and impressed a few of the old hands with his shredded rear tyre on the fast, grippy Moray roads.

</div>

<div style="font-family:inherit;">Les lost his final challenge last Sunday after a tumble on his bike, breaking a few bones but critically, he took a diabetes hypo followed by a heart attack.

</div>

<div style="font-family:inherit;">Les led a full life and put £1000s into helping young up and coming road racers from the area - I first met him when I was racing in the late 80s as a larger than life sponsor of Dougie Cowie who went onto British National racing in the 90s.

</div>

<div style="font-family:inherit;">Les owned the "other" tuned TDM900 similar to mine but with a TTS 960 conversion which spectacularly blew itself to smithereens. Les persevered by having it rebuilt again just 8 or so years ago when I was reunited with him and converted his forks to emulators - only to blow it spectacularly again! He then cobbled together an MT09/TDM hybrid with bits of scaffold pole and screwed rod - but it worked!

</div>

<div style="font-family:inherit;">"The Mannie" was unique - a definite one off, loved his bikes, ran a highly successful motorcycle training scheme helping hundreds through their test, rally car co-driver, bon vivanteur and raconteur who laughed his Parkinson's disease in the face for over 12 years - it was his love for biking which helped him deal with the debilitating disease.

</div>

<div style="font-family:inherit;">Ride in Peace Les - You are "The Mannie"
