What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today?
Cleared my shed and dragged my hydraulic bench out for the TDM for some winter fettling, mainly the valve clearances but saves a lot of scrabbling on the floor when the bike is raised.

Bike now sits on it and raised, couldn't do that safely without the centrestand, had to do some careful balancing when I got it on the bench and realised I was gonna need assistance to get it on the stand, a very un-nerving few minutes.

I've had the XT600 on it with a strap each side but didn't fancy that with the weight of the TDM.

Having sold my Super Tenere I had a tidy out of the garage and a seperate storeroom where seem to have stored a load of spares I have very little recollection of ever buying. I seem to have turned into a hoarder in my old age! :rotflmmfao: The TDM is going to follow the Tenere and go up for sale in the New Year, so there'll be a few nights removing the many accessories and farkles that adorn her for seperate sale. So watch out for an exclusive to Carpe winter sale of accessories and unwanted spares I've hoarded over the years  Rolleyes

Not today but yesterday, finally got around to checking the valve clearances on the beast for the first time (about 26k miles, mostly not mine) to find a few a wee bit tight, not bad going seeing as the shed it's in was flooded about 6"-8" deep xmas eve morning, house got away with it unlike 7 of my neighbours (nice end to a good year, not!), luckily the bike was already on my hydraulic bench and raised so well above water level, nipped into work boxing day and blagged a space heater and some fans and ducting from the gas heaters we just had replaced and mostly dried out now.

Not the first time the shed has been flooded and probably not the last. all part of the fun...

Taken a bottle brush to the brake disks to get all the crud out of the drillings, looked close at rear disk and realised how buggered it is......

Some of he drillings were clogged solid with brake dust so must have been binding at some point.

Now ordered new disk, pads, caliper kit with stainless pistons, hel hose, well that was an expensive little job with a bottle brush.

I think I now own shares in wemoto.

Luckily fronts look ok.

Started on repair after the bike was blown over in a very strong wind gust. The bloke in the shop I was in when it happened gave me a hand to upright it. I was totally pi$$ed off. Perhaps taller screen and a top box didn't help and there was a slight slope making it more upright.

Forks twisted in yokes, impact to bar end, centre of side panel, front indicator, silencer at rear weld, against rear caliper and heel shield, rear hangar bent. It was unmarked before. Still p'd off - grrrrrr.

Liberal soaking in penetrating oil for a week, a rawlbolt and it still needed heat to budge.

Given how obstinate it was in moving I expected to see more corrosion.

Thanks to all who posted tips for this P.I.T.A. job.  I'd have got there in the end, but they saved me a lot of time and swearing.

The best thing about being old is we did all our stupid stuff before the Internet was invented, so there’s no proof.
I would be happy with that result Sphere, mine need the Master and a grinding tool to budge..

Nowt wrong with the Rotax engined ones, Even AliG got one.
Mine got new chain and sprockets after 38,000 on the originals. Roll on warmer weather.
Shoved it aside for some in-shed fiddling/elbow room.
