Bike runs good - measured 4.35L/100km (65mpg) mainly on back roads at low speed. A slight leak from fork seals stopped throughout the trip, but fork oil needs change. Pushing bars violently down causes a full 3 down/up wavesð
Also, a small oil leak from lower left side of engine, hopefully just alternator cover

i used carrot cycles. you pay for P&P so its best to get loads of the stuff.
They also do special cables to order. I had my speedo cable for a 50cc gilera mate to another make speedo
checked my oil pumps today for wear. a little scoring on the feed pump, but all within specs so happy with that.
Â
Just awaiting piston coating and rings etc (next week I believe)
Â
just messed about with rear cup and cone bearings  my cycle, what a pain to do took an hour to get right, off and on the bike etc

En route to Harley shop in Uppingham - had a meet up with SR for sausage n egg bun washed down with coffees at the Green Hut nr Ollerton. Nice ole chat and a table away cops were the worst at social distancing today (yeah yeah they sit next to each other all day - just not in foursomes). :punishment:
I forgot to look at your new chain oiler today Ian - next time. :good:
Â
Bill's HD not PXd and another fancy Electraglide remained in the shop. Nice day for a ride tho
Â
Fuel 214 miles to last bar flashing - averaged 56mpg.
Â
Had a 360 not 400 mile ride out. Airhawk had my butt complaining at 320miles.old age creeping up - I feel that 500 miles may be my maximum (long) day limit now.
Â
Still had a grin on my face...........

Nice to meet up with you and Bill, pity he didn't get the newer Harley as I know he was looking forward to moving up in engine size. Next time maybe ? Yeah, cops all over the place, glad we weren't doing the flour meetup.

Changed fork oil, as suspension had gone very sloppy. And, yes, oil was green/violet/grey, but still had the consistence of oil, not the vinegar like liquid I have seen before. Put in new oil, and thought "hmmm..." an went to bed.
Next moring, right before a work trip on the bike, it struck me: "Bloody hell, the dampening rods were not attached!"Â - and spent 20 mins undoing bars, fork caps - connected the rods, and I was good to go.
Â
How did that happen ? I don't know, but it might be that when I last disassembled them, I forgot to tighten the rod nuts. I believe they were screwed all the way down on threads (but I'm not 100% sure, I was in a hurry). If so, they must have unwinded themselves.
Â
I feel like an idiot :istupid:
Â
Anyone experienced "self-detached" damper rods ?
Â
But - the bike runs beautifully !!! Also tightened head bearings. Now it's a proper dream. The fork (with Gold Valves) is just so much better than the now gone 9er (with emulators). Took it 200kms yesterday with a big grin on my face.Â
Â
Asked the wife last night; "You know I have an MC savings account after selling the 9er? I just wonder what to do with it - I certainly don't need a new bike"Â
