Broken bolt extracted so clutch bracket holder sorted

[attachment=o13101]

Done a bunch of fook fiddly bits where nowt will bolt in cos i found more powder coat filled thread holes.

Spent the day mincing around with the Remus exhaust, it was a bit tight taking of nephie's mk2 and it's an even tighter fit on the 3vd, tried 3vd foot hangers but they are a tad shorter than mk2's so no help.

[attachment=o13103][attachment=o13104]

So back to mk2 hangers and a 10mm hack of the Y-piece to downpipe end which helped a bit to still came up a tad short.

[attachment=o13102][attachment=o13105]

Eventually managed to get them fitting but will need to address this down the road, possibly a new Y-piece from MTC

Carbs given a clean up, thermostat also

[attachment=o13109][attachment=o13110] and thermostat[attachment=o13111]

Hmm looks like pc's playing up a bit with the photo's being disordered but ya get the drift.

Good job at bolt extraction, doesn't allus work out that way. :good:

My back's aching just thinking about the zorst fettlin. So you've got one zorst on inside of footbracket and the other on the outside for now.  Strange how it doesn't fit properly when it did on the mk2 eh.

Rear brake caliper bracket looks proper shiney, did you file/grind it smooth before polishing it ?  Mines got really bad finish where the bolt goes.

Soon be time to fire her up eh. Smile

Think i got lucky with the bolt extraction as i flipped it over so was drilling clockwise ie unscrewing the bolt out (which it did'nt) but i think the heat from drilling helped a lot and the ez out worked a treat..

Yea was back breaking fettling the buggers, good you noticed but cant get them to fit any other way, also the right side is 6cm higher than the left which is as i thought the Y-piece is a bit wobblyish, tried getting it level but that's impossible without the cans on but also lifts the left side exhaust to close to the chain and the can almost touching the swinger, prolly have another bash at some point... think me endless chain will get grinded off an all...

Oh the rear caliper bracket, it's not polished but painted...however i did clean the footrest hangers up a bit, i used a brillo pad gently initially, then a medium grade scrubbie, brown, then fine, grey and finally polished with a small felt pad on a dremel and Autosol, they look okay, eventually i'll get the mops out for the exhaust but it's messy..

They've come up nice. :good: They're quite stylish fer footpeg brackets, as is the rear grabrail.  I was watching wheeler dealers, handy for fettlin' tips, and Edd China reckons to get polishing swirl marks out, rub in some talcum powder.  Worked a treat on a car he'd polished.

Just seen a rusty bolt on that thermostat housing, probably M6 just need length, I'll send you some flanged stainless ones.
Good save mucka.  Bit late now but Tesco often have deals on stuff like antifreeze.  And Wilko sell motoring liquids too.

Well spotted Lee.  Lol  Not sure Cliff would want to disturb that though, looks like it's been silicone sealed ?

I've given em a clean up Lee and nail varnished em and sealed the thermostat an all, later on after it's up and running i'll give it a go over for all the little bolts i want to replace..
