Finally It's Here.
I have been waiting for this D1:3 camlock, ER40 collet chuck since last June. Fits perfectly and runs true within less than 0.01mm, so low even my fancy clock can just see it.

Like a dog with two tails now.
More TDM bling coming soon then?

The master engineer made one out of mild steel as he got tired of waiting, which I've been using, but it's started to wear out being a bit soft.

This one is hardened and ground. Not only TDM bling, but Royal Enfield bling too.  Smile

So I'm all set up now, until I shuffle off.

Accurate to 0.01mm you say ? Sorry, that's never gonna work on a Enfield.....

Lol

Take the RE wheel spacers for example supposed to be bored 17.00 mm. 17.36 one end 17.64 the other and ends not parallel to each other and the bore skewed not centred. Made my own.

Quite a few bits have been binned and I got a bucket of substandard nuts and bolts, primary and drive chains, bearings etc, the list is long, but it's been fun.

I work for an aero engine company ( old lawnmower tech not jets) and if a crankshaft is below limits we do a .003" undersize in a lathe with emery tape, we used to do .006" the same way but now they are supposed to be sent away for that one and re-nitrided, the reason being most in the game have equipment to vauge to grind any less, it's a soul destroying job having to check for ovality and paralel as you go with a micrometer.

I one had to do a 6 pot crank on the ends because of a few small corrosion pits from a very good standard size, two days later I had lost the will to live, never regained the will to live till I got a TDM.

Cool, more things to make
"As I Lay Rubber down to street, I pray for traction I can keep. But if I skid and begin to slide, please dear god protect my ride"

Mods; Oil pressure switch, neoprene rear inner mudguard, scottoiler, highway pegs,  fenda extenda, 1999 carbs and airbox, Kais suspension setup, later clutch springs, LED lamps, Metmachex swingarm, Hagon Shock, Oxford heated grips, 4 way fused accessory Bus, 17" 3CV front wheel, Michellin R6 tyres, GPS speedo, 5' ignition advance.
I had a Honda VFR apart once. They now use special lobed screws like a zip bolt which kind of cuts it's own thread, no proper tapped threads at all. It was hell taking it to bits.

So an M6 screw has a M4 shank. Moose sheared heads of every other one trying to put them back. The Helicoil stock got depleted that day.
Oh he kept that part quiet he did, about shearing the bolts Lol

It was ok he left with lots more stainless than he arrived with, had to do all of the cover bolts in the end or it would have looned wrong.
