What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today?
Went out to workshop for one last go, gave it a good heave back and forth and "Clunk" it's free. Started bike whilst lifted up on abba stand, held rear brake and slipped clutch a bit and it seems fine. it's getting new coolant, oil and filter anyway in the next few days. Saves me having to open her up.

I begin TDM fettling tomorrow  Smile

Lee are the bikevis led's the small bullet type?

Lee if you want it PM me you new address and Ill post it :good:

Me battery has been found wanting.

Was fine fresh off the charger and started her up fine, a few days standing in cold garage and things are not so good, not holding the charge and struggling to turn her over chattering the solenoid.

So I bit the bullet and went for a same physically sized lithium iron phospate from Shido. I don't want blocks of foam fiddling about.

You need a lithium specific Optimate, so you have to factor in the extra £49 for that. It starts bike very well and weighs next to nothing.

Given the cost is near twice that of a Motobatt AGM type, it does come with three years warranty. Time will tell if it's money well spent.

Point to note is terminals are M5 screws not M6.

My convensional Optimate appears to fully charge my Lithium battery

All the side covers off plus inner dash, found a small crack upper right-hand tip of outer fairing. Some expoxy resin putty will fix it. Also fitting proper plugs and sockets to the led voltage monitor to make things easier next time.

1992 850. Has been sitting since the summer.  Started it for a little bit last night to make sure battery stayed charged.  Started it today to let it run for awhile and noticed steam coming up from right side  of engine exhaust.  Then noticed a little puddle of green coolant below the bike there.  I'm thinking maybe the gasket for that housing on the lower right side of the engine just decided to fail?

I live in the Seattle area of Washington state where TDM's are few.  Anyone have some insights on this leak for me?  I'm not much of a mechanic.

Greetings.

The 850 brains will be along to give you pointers soon :good:

Usual culprit is the thermostat o'ring, the housing can banana a little, take it apart and replace the o'ring, some of us have used a little silicone to help seal it (you dont want silicone getting in though) this means emptying the coolant and removing all the plastics and tank for access, normally it pools into the right side spark plug hole and causes a misfire when running, at least that's where you should be looking 1st..

Try Boats.net or Wemoto..

Might also have been a sticking thermostat that caused the steam.
Clagged the new Ali radiator on this morning with silicone pipes also as they were starting to split ends
