What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today?
Greetings, all.

Old hand, new on TDM, obviously sought the best forum to learn and hopefully contribute some, too.

Did the airbox mod disconnecting the brown/black wire at the ECU connector, well worth it and super easy to do. Then looked for places to build in an oiler, and waddayknow? Tucked nicely away under the seat was already a Scottoiler, unknown to the seller (commission sale at an otherwise good Yamaha dealer). Empty, of course, so filled it for now with some fresh 5w40 in lieu of the blue stuff. Will see how it pans out and replace if necessary. Also moved the rear brake pedal down a notch to accommodate my long legs.

Will try sheep skin, beads and whatsnot before I start modding the seat from the inside, bony a*s not too happy with the stock saddle. Oh, and ordered mirror extenders and hand guards off Ebay. Grip warmers to be considered if guards turns out to be insufficient.

Thanks! It does have some silver details, but it's mainly yellow, I' afraid. Or Reddish Yellow Cocktail, to be accurate. Wink Quite visible in the traffic, though.

That Scottoiler? Primed it, relocated and stiffened up the drip tube with some copper pipe, and bob's your uncle. Quite a nice surprise, actually. 28 000 km, fully serviced, pristine paintwork.

Fitted tyre pressure monitoring system. Went for a simple one which had external sensors. Easy to fit and pressures agree with my tyre pressure gauge when cold. Not had any raid deflations (thankfully!) yet so will update if I do.

I’ll have a p please Bob.....

Started to strip Muddy's old 900. Swingarm is off. Shock linkage is in very good condition, swingarm pivot too. Just seems to need a deep clean at the back end and a new chain.

gave it a wash after a 800 mile trip round the north 500

850 3vd no oil used well thrashed

Washed it, oiled chain.. oh, and tightened the steering head bearings.. i probably didn't need to buy the new ones so they are still in the packet ( I'm sure i'll use them, one day)

I can't believe how much difference just tightening them up a bit more has made..I always felt the front end was just a bit  vague/inconsistent/weird and put it down to maybe the 18in front wheel but it feels like a different bike, if only the rain would have fooked orf so i could have gone for a longer ride.. They were actually quite loose Rolleyes Rolleyes Rolleyes

Fitted GS style spot lights..

Believe it or not it's satin black smootherite... and it has lasted really well
Giving her ladyship a good going over in preparation for our annual trip. Whilst at it decided to fit new gaitors to the forks. Hung her up from the garage rafters, with light jack support, removed wheel and forks, took off the old, partially perished gaitors, and found oil! Darn, I said! Not the thing you need on the second to last day available for prep.

Thor Motorcycles are confident they can fix it by tomorrow lunchtime. Just in time for putting it all together and thoroughly test it before we go.

First surprise she ever gave me.

Rob
Tried the method of removing dirt with a piece of plastic stuffed inbetween fork leg and seal? From reports, it seems to work in many situations...
Bjørge
I usually would but in a bit of a rush to fit it all in whilst home. Work crept in and spoiled things a bit. So I decided to get them done whilst doing the chores.
