What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today?
Unstuck the stuck clutch plates of my original niner, topped up the oil and charged the battery (unused for nearly 4 mths), and prepared for a run to the Isle of Skye tomorrow. Forecast is for a bit of wind but not cold and mostly dry. I'm preparing for the worst now I've just said that Smile

Just finished bullying the lower inner bearing race onto the steering head stem....going for a lie down...thanks for listening.

I know, very lucky !

A friend down the street phoned at 11 and announced he had booked an extra room through booking.com by mistake, and it was too late to cancel.  It's been a tough few weeks, and knowing the wife would be understanding, I thought I would tax the TDM because the KTM620 would be very vibey for the 4 - 6 hours I'll be on it.

It's timed  perfectly because i was starting to feel the need to come up for air soon Smile What's funny is that for the past six weeks, every time we've been out for a ride he's put his bike away and declared 'That's the bike covered in ACF50 now and put away for the winter  now"  .... He returned to biking last year after a long absence and I get the feeling he's making up for lost time Smile

Had a good run to Skye yesterday, windy but mostly dry. the return trip today was warmer but wetter but Michelin Pilot Power 3's made easy work of the wet.

As we were passing the famous James Bond scene at Glen Eitve i thought it would be rude not to .....

I thought about my 9'er today. (Not quite pegging the "what have you done to your TDM today" category but...)

Haven't seen it in months. Haven't ridden it in nearing two years. She's laid up with fresh oil and waterless coolant. Needs a new battery and a bloody good clean. (I'll save my tears to wash it with.)

Bought myself a turbo MX-5, something I now wish I'd done years before, but it's just not the bike I'd spent years fetling into great shape.

Just changed Thermostat and sender unit and now have working temp gauge and a fan that come on at 1/2 rather than over heating then thinking about cutting in. Just need to check it again tomorrow when cool and put faring back on for a test ride.

Stripped carbs down again & given them a good clean in a sonic bath. Hopefully sort out the rough running issue I’ve been struggling with
She breathes once more! Back to the road after, new fork seals and oil, headrace bearings, headlight bulb (drama), rewire drl's, bit of a clean, oil and filter, new front brake pads. Just need time to ride now!!

Got both fork legs off mine at the mo. Change of fluid and new inner tube on the right side. Also ordered some of Arthurs gaiters, hate the things but do serve good purpose.

Bit of a service and MOT time.

New set of Bridgestone Battlax T31 tyres for this weekend's trip and a registration check.
I know some of you might not believe this but today I...

Actually the second time this year, so I think it's done more miles this month than it had in the previous 6!  Warmer out than I expected too, coldest bit was pushing it back in to the garage, the grabrail was freezing.

1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now Sad

2009 900 abs, 42k miles, Yamaha heated grips, double bubble screen, R&G crash bungs, scottoiler, Autocom, 1500 lumen LED spotlights.

Lost the front end on the Ice 20 ft from front door- oops at about 5 mph

Only damage a broken mount for spotlight - ( already have a spare set to go on )

Sore Shoulder - ( so No decorating at Home aww what a shame )

Naturally a Gritter came along Half an hour later ( bloody typical )

Also checked r / hand coil & H T Lead yet again it's been not firing /misfiring when raining Only replaced it in December

So This time I've wrapped the coil and the connectors as well

These RM-G engine Bars are worth their weight in gold
Spent a productive hour in the garage with my 04.

Stripped the bottom suspension linkage - all came apart without shenanigans (even the difficult bush slid out!) thanks to fresh grease every year.

Dropped the shock out too. New M-Shock on the bench ready to replace the 35,000 mile original.

Took the swingarm out to grease the bearings, etc. All came apart nicely.

Still to do. Fit the cartridge emulators (on the bench next to the shock - Ill be in touch Alan Wink ), probably some replacement fork springs too, plus a full service and a deep clean to get to the last of that Spanish desert dust Smile

Should be like a new bike again!

Finished off the fiddly bits of the annual service which had included greasing the swingarm bearings. I made a peg spanner from an old spark plug box spanner to release / set the adjuster bolt when none of my needle nose pliers would do the job. I'd add pix but the PC is not recognising its USB plug-in ports right now.

Got the bike out to the garage and set about cleaning the workshop. Spiders and their droppings and webs everywhere!
