E21 on

[attachment=o11585]

Overall impression without long term use..very well made..very sturdy despite quick release mechanism...very neat looking bike when not touring...doddle to install - about 3 hours including initial weighing up the job. Bike at handlebars just under 800mm, with E21's on 870mm....

Bad points, the adapter top case mount i.e. the main lock is mounted to the frame via 2 x Allen bolts. Anybody with a 6mm key could remove the luggage. I may install some anti tamper or shear bolts.

The E21's are a bit pliable which means they flex on the back wall stopping me from push clicking them on and then once on they don't release from the push button for the same reason. No big deal, just open the case and operate the lock by thumb. Sturdier cases should be fine..maximum weight label for the frames including pannier 12.5kg..

Hope that luggage option is useful to someone...

Very nice but very expensive, or am I just getting old  :unsure2:

Yeah, expensive I guess. I'm just doing a bit of SKIing Wink
Does this allows you to not drill holes for installment in the bag? I'm looking for a rack that can be strapped up the frame without drilling in the bag. I go these hard saddlebags from viking bags and I'm struggling to install one of these.

I've used my E21s on three differrent bikes now, and never had this problem. All have, however, been on Givi frames.

I suggest you fiddle with the position of the lock plate and the two buttons and check the latter enter the slots fully. Maybe a wee bit of lube in the lock?

PS If you are new to the E21s take a tip. ALWAYS pull on the handle after locking the lid, since the case can appear shut when it ain't. I lost a camera before I adopted this routine.

The cases he has used are Givi E21s which are designed to clip-on / clip off the rack. The fittings - a lock post and two buttons - that hold the case to the rack are not shown in these pix except for in the very first pic.. Go see a Givi site for details of their racks and cases. These are equivalent to the Givi Monokey system.

Here's a pic of a Givi frame showing the lock post and two buttons on the pannier frame and also on the top rack.

ADD: Those you link to are both expensive and small. The stated capacity of the pair converts to 26 litres. Each of the E21s holds 21 litres. You could buy two E21s and the Givi rack for about the same as the price quoted in the advert - in the UK anyway!

Hi Steve,

I tried all options to solve this without success. The detachable frames are SW Motech. I just lift the lid . Thumb press the panniers on to the latch and then lock it as normal. Other than that the set up is excellent.

Marshall,

There is no drilling to be done.....

@Northcheshire Depends on the rack and distance of the bolts. I wish I could've made a demo video over it to make you understand when I was struggling through it.
Is there any cado system that you guys are using for the head phones in healmet

These panniers, are now fitted to my bike
