What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today?
not used any oil since changing the output seal on the MK2   :badgerrock:

"As I Lay Rubber down to street, I pray for traction I can keep. But if I skid and begin to slide, please dear god protect my ride"

Mods; Oil pressure switch, neoprene rear inner mudguard, scottoiler, highway pegs,  fenda extenda, 1999 carbs and airbox, Kais suspension setup, later clutch springs, LED lamps, Metmachex swingarm, Hagon Shock, Oxford heated grips, 4 way fused accessory Bus, 17" 3CV front wheel, Michellin R6 tyres, GPS speedo, 5' ignition advance.
Jumped on it and rode up to Tyndrum, Green Welly stop, than back via Loch Lomond, Dumbarton and Glasgow. 180 miiles behind a friend who was running in a brand new Triumph Tiger 800 so no speed records were under threat, seemed to be on for 210miles to the tankful, not bad considering the climbs into the headwind we experienced.

The Oxford heated grips with automatic switch off are wired directly to the battery and they haven't drained the battery while the bike was sat doing nothing for 3 weeks, so I'm happy with that

<p style="text-align:center;">Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.

You Lucky man

Feels like months since I've been up that way

Hopefully I'll get a chance before end of year to have a little run up that way

Just need to replace the r/hand H T Lead first

Andy
I've just bought one

I've promised it I'll fit a new camchain since rolling over the 100,000 mile mark, so i've got some work to do too....will look at the valve clearances while I'm at it

Hi all I'm new to the tdm but looking forward to riding my new bike regards Tony
Replaced the r / hand HT lead

Also changed the Fuel filter

Both of which were purchased back in July

Sometimes I can be right Lazy Bar steward
I replaced the dashboard light bulbs, one had failed, the other was on its way out. What a fiddly and time consuming job. Anyway, all back together now and looking nice and bright.

I had a good laugh to myself halfway through removing the front cowling, one of the mounting points had obviously cracked in the past and had been repaired and reinforced with a bit of a plastic 6" ruler. What a bodger I thought and was a tad disappointed as the bike was immaculate when I bought it and didn't look like it had ever been dropped. Then I remembered it was me that did it following a zero MPH drop about two years after I bought it  Rolleyes

I've had the bike since June 2006 and I've obviously starting to forget what work I've done to it in the past  :rotflmmfao: .

On the subject of bulbs, pretty remarkable that I'm still on the same tail light and indicator bulbs, assuming the first owner didn't change them; that's 90500 miles/15 years.

The Blue One : 2004 model owned 2010-2018 much loved, much missed and now living with a man in Scotland Spain.

The Black One : 2010 Model Registered 2013 owned 2018 - present .Beowulf Cans. Renthal 755s Grip Puppies,15w fork oil,DL650 handguards ,givi engine bars ,led spotlights, gipro gear indicator, shortened dogbones, LeeHenty CSM kit and stainless bits, Topsellerie seat,MRA Xcreen,.PC III (dynoed). K&N airfilter,Fenda extenda. Lots of stainless/titanium.

Take the clocks off Chris and flip em over, twist and pull a bulb out then refit new one, that's it, dont really need a pic.

Sounds simple!

-07 900 ABS 115 tkm on a clock. It's been surprisingly reliable bike for past 100 tkm. Just  standard maintenance. Front fork gators have been keeping fork seals in a good shape for past 40 tkm. Air box mod + PowerCommander + Laser cans are quite ok even if low rev torque is still a bit thin. Higher and wider seat (it's pretty tricky to make the shape and hardness comfortable enough - hints are welcome) + lowered screen fits quite well for a tall driver like me keeping helmet tolerable steady and quiet reducing still pressure on a chest. It's not for off road but light enough for 10/90 all-rounder/street needs but unfortunately carrying capacity quite low. I would prefer slightly shorter 1st gear and  +10 hp.

It's far from perfect but versatile enough for my needs. I've testes quite many bikes for a past couple of years ending up time after time to go on with TDM - charger. It's time to change timing chain and check valve clearances. New front brake discs an pads are also waiting for assembly. Original battery is finished. Just a few months and snow is gone and I'll be ready for road.

I wish it was that simple Cliff. Sadly I didn't take pictures Chris and there's nothing in the service manual about this. The diagram in the parts catalogue is useful though and there's some stuff on JBX's site about fitting LED replacements with good instructions (I didn't bother with LEDs).

  1. Side panels, screen, infill panel & front cowling off.
  2. Dash unplugs and is retained by three screws underneath.
  3. Put it on a clean, clear work surface. Flip it over, remove 8 crosshead screws, flip it back over (so clocks are facing up) and gently pull apart.
Dash bulbs are two T5 push ins, 2W rating (though I used 2.3W from ebay). One is to the right of the speedo face in plain sight, t'other is under the speedo, at the edge at about 7 o'clock. That one's a bit awkward if you have big hands. Reassembly is reverse.

I don’t have to do it just yet, a firm thump usually brings the errant bulb back to life, but I’m sure it won’t eventually.
