Rabies and Mentalmen........
Â
Assistance please with this problem - not Skin So Soft or other unctions malarky
Â
I do not appreciate the attentions of mosquitoes or other biting insects when camping in places with better weather (or Glencoe for that matter). With this in mind I have acquired a chemical anti-mozz device for next summer continental hols.
Â
I'd like to run this from the bike battery overnight so...and here's where I may err
Â
Device details are
Â
  5 volts, 1.5 amps therefore 7.5 watts
Â
 7.5 watts for 10 hours = 75Wh
Â
Â
EDIT Just finished testing a 4000mAh power bank - 3 hours acceptable performance with the anti-mozz. I may go with a larger power bank
Â
Â
Many thanks in advance

Why not have one of these in the top box can be recharged whilst riding https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-50800mAh-...SwU-pXvn87

@Rallyist Yep that's about the size of power bank I was considering . Ideally I'd rather run from the bike if there is going to be enough power left to start the bike.
Camping with the bike is planned for the weekend 17 November Cliff. I'm scheming Poland Ukraine Romania blah blah stuff in the east with tent next summer although I will stay in the occasional hotel hostel penzion. Party of one.

Â
East bloc (former) is great on a bike Alan, bit different from the norm, have a word with dappers for whereabouts of sminky's, a route back through Slovakia is preferable to Hungary though, it's so flat innit, you were out that way awhile back come to think onnit.

Tested today a gt12 battery as fitted to tdm 900 (not the one on my bike -Â a spare in the shed), running only the anti-mozz via a usb convertor for which I had assumed 80% efficiency;
Â
10am @ 19c  13.08v test begins
Â
20:00 @20c  12.24v test ends
Â
Exactly matches the maths I did before I began i.e. 50% drain.
Â
Edit 2 hours later and the battery has shed some crap from the plates - recording 12.40v maybe enough to fire a fine tuned TDM.
Â
Tomorrow I'll see if this battery is capable of starting the bike from cold in the cold.............

But, in the real world so to speak, would your bike battery actually be charged up to 13.08v before you plugged in yer mozicuter. If it was only at 12.8v you might end up with a flat battery. :unsure2:
Another option would be to sleep less.

Nope didn't fire the bike - barely turned over with some solenoid clicking thrown in. TBH I didn't expect any other result. I have other testing to do Ian, and I expect to have this nut cracked by Sunday

Update - for any interested parties..........
Â
Â
Tested one of those 86 gazillion mAh powerbanks and it almost made it - gotta see how long it takes to recharge..otherwise If the charging time is too long then I guess I'm going to consider a split charge relay and carry another battery hmm maybeÂ
