Quote:First ride out this year .................. to get my MOT ! Passed though. <a class="bbc_url" href="http://s606.photobucket.com/user/lumley_tone/media/IMG_0403_zpsx9tpkuse.jpg.html"></a><a class="bbc_url" href="http://s606.photobucket.com/user/lumley_tone/media/IMG_0402_zpsvbhblcix.jpg.html"></a>
However, it wasn't my 'first' ride out of the year. Have to confess I had the pleasure of accompanying my old man last Sunday over the Durham Dales ! <a class="bbc_url" href="http://s606.photobucket.com/user/lumley_tone/media/IMG_0401_zps8rvl8hzn.jpg.html"></a>
Looking forward to the year ahead !
Cheers

Ride safe fella and good luck on the MOT as I'm sure it will be alright.

Fitted the GPR cans n link pipes I got off Mort (top bloke - will be buying him a beer at Spa Bikers Classic). Sounds good at riding at <35mph, seems to pull cleanly with only the rear baffles fitted, and I can't hear the pipes at >40mph :good:Â No picture cos there is one with them fitted to Mort's bike in the For Sale section

All wheel/sprocket carrier bearings removed, discovered I had only ordered rear ones...
New PR3s fitted
Top box reassembled after painting
Tank cap & outlet reassembled
Attempted lubricating speedo gears (bouncing needle)
....
Scratched head - can't remember how rear cowling and subframe (or whatever it's named) are fitted, did I actually dissassemble that thing ?
....
Hallway rug still filled with lovely painted parts, but now abandoning this & off for Mallorca and an MT07 Tracer for a spin :pimp:
I've just bought my 9er and found the protection from the original windscreen very pour. I'm 1,8m. I've bought a MRA VT, but I don't feel much improvement.
Your windscreen look good. What brand is it? does it offer a good protection?
Fixed my 9er, I stopped riding it in September when I got the mk2 on the road,,,,,I started the 9er every month but in Feb it wouldn't start. The red wire from the plug on the multifunction relay just simply fell out covered in green corrosion (i'm sure i've read about it on here somewhere). Found a new pin from my collection and got it going pretty quickly then - it started on the first try with the new contact in place.
I've cleaned the back end, serviced rear caliper, cleaned and lubed the chain......I think the forks need rebuilding but hey-ho, then tyres and an MOT and....I actually think I might start riding it again and sell the mk2 (I need more garage space)
New front pads fitted & rear suspension malarky strip, clean n grease, (all came apart nice n easy) with castrol tractor/farm grease (replacing last years marine grease (not made from melted down marines)). The marine grease had done sterling service for over 17,000 miles including off-road clarty stuff and being submerged for at least 100 yards thanks to some CZ flash flooding.
Finished in time for grub n MotoGP :good:

Fitted new black widow 450mm exhaus system 2-2. And renewed my seat cover with a better black with red bits on.
Just need to balance the carbs, repair the tank, spray paint the frame, tank and rear cowling and then make some naked style fairing for the front end. Might keep the lights and speedo.
Torqued up a slightly loose head bearing, replaced fork oil with 15W (i find it easier than losing body weight !) . Overhauled all calipers and checked disk bobbins..Just need to pick up the wheels from the tyre fitters with new PR3's (including the 17" conversion to the front) I'm good to go again !
Â
I've been on the 850 for 6 months and have really got used to it, hopefully the 17" front on the 900 will give me a similar feel
Just fitted a nice pair of Factory Pro "kitted" carbs to the '92 850 yesterday, then after a ride-out in the evening, noticed it was drooling gas on the engine. Too tired to mess with it, I rolled it out of the garage and went to bed.
Â
This morning, I took a look and saw that it was weeping from one corner of the left carb. So, I pulled the carbs (what a hassle having to pull all the bloody bodywork), then pulled the float bowls, and swapped the floats from the original carbs, thinking it might've been a "sinker" (float with a leak). As I went to re-install the bowls, I looked REAL close at the bowl o-ring and saw the spot where a small section of the o-ring got twisted about 1/4 turn right near the half-loop that skirts the low speed mixture screw. AHA!
Â
Took a ride across town via the "scenic route", thoroughly enjoyed the smooth, steady power delivery, and rock-stable handling. Time to start practicing wheelies and soft landings, the bike WANTS to do it!
Â
We'll be going to a local Gypsy M/C rally this weekend and I'll get pix of the bike games; I invariably bring home at least one trophy, usually for the slow race...
