Hey wiggers. Is this a comment on another thread with that title? In which case I will move this thread to admin section...and I think you have a valid point.
Or summat else, in which case oil prolly leaf the thread ear and you may also have a valid point.. . Just one that might need some clarification.
Either way it sounds loike it were a fun evening :-)
Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.
I think the problem is its a very generic forum thread. Often seen on USA sites and discourages people from starting their own thread. It then goes unread by many. What is all about other than posting about what you have done/ plan to do to your boike?
If there is any technical discussion in there then it becomes much less searchable and less valuable to the forum.

You've summed it up really mate. I don't want to upset anyone but I just think topics would be better with their own headings.
Â
As it is I don't read it because it would take an age to find anything. Hundreds of topics are covered and lost in the orderless mass.
Â
There may be something very interesting to someone (or of no use at all) but there's no way of knowing without delving in there and trying to make sense of it.
Â
Taken to its extreme you could say let's not have any headings at all any just put everything in one long thread.
121 pages of TDM related stuff in one topic is totally useless if you're searching it for technical info, or wanting to follow a members progress in work they're doing. Peeps often save the link to a topic for future reference and it's tricky doing this if the info is spread out ove 121 pages.  It's also basically the 'All about TDM' sub forum presented as a topic.Â
Â
It's still perfectly possible to read about what peeps have done to their TDM's without the topic, just read the 'All about TDM' sub forum.
Â
The only positive I can think of for having the topic is that it saves idle folks having to spend 30 seconds creating a new topic.
I'd take the time to argue that the thread "What Have You Done To Your TDM Today?" is a valuable forum "Feature".
Â
It represents activity, the community, the changing seasons and the current focus of TDM members.
Â
It gives viewers from the outside a peek into what we're up to, day to day.
Â
Why the fyck, go and suggest ending something that, just by its being, just is? 120+ pages ffs.
Â
I'd also remind people that this thread was initiated by @arthurbikemad and that if anyone was to start a thread asking this particular question, he would be the person you would want to do it.
(A bit like HRH, christening HMS Ark Royal on the shipyard slipway.)
Â
Go ahead.
Knock it on the head.
Use whatever, limp wristed, butthurt, nazi excuses you can come up with.
Â
It's a one off, individual characteristic of the Carpe forum.

No it really isn't. It's a common thread to start on forums from what I've seen, maybe because it's a dead cert to guarantee megathread status. This place is quiet enough, what with FB and the fact people are moving on due to owning different bikes, so it needs new threads to simulate activity. Starting a new thread is like starting a new conversation and mega What Have You Done threads make it all too easy to avoid doing so, which I why I try to start new threads, even if a lot of them end up with the tumbleweeds blowing through. Keeping forums alive takes a bit of effort.
One off, in the sense, that, there is only one, carpe+what have you thread.
You're only likely to have one and as such, it is an individual characteristic.
Would be a shame to lose/kill it at the height of the Winter chill IMO, being that the majority of the activities here play out during the northern hemispheres Summer.
