I didn't take a lot of photos, I'm trying to understand how my new camera works and inevitably some of the photos ended up crap. Wink

Really enjoyed today. Thanks again to our host, AliG. lovely to meet Miss G. A bright wee charmer if ever there was one.

Thanks to Lee I have some more shiny bits including lovely SS exhaust nuts and caps. He's also replaced some of the bolts on my handlebar paraphernalia. I have forgiven him for bolting down my hair tie (that I keep on my heated grip control) as I had a spare in my pocket! Thank you TDMick, BSM and Latestarter for fitting my centre stand. I'm very spoiled!

We buzzed off (or rather, sat in traffic for ages) to the ACE Cafe to meet up with a few fellow lady riders and got home around 5.30 with another 110 miles on the clocks.

Unfortunately intermittent misfire on BSM's bike has returned, a new thread needed methinks!
You don't need balls to ride a big bike.

me snap on ratchet is sorted, the retaining ring came unscrewed so it's been put back together and loctitie ed back in. Thank the lord I caught all the bits.

BSM's bike will be coil or HT leads shorting to earth., or a dodgy multiplug under the tank.

A good day was had by all the grub was superb and the fettling carried on with us who were left fitting luggage to AliG's black bike.

I just want to thank you all who were at the fettle day today, you all made me feel very welcome and was great to put faces to names.

I've got a couple of pictures and will post them up later, there are some very talented people on this forum but I was privileged to meet the TDM oracle Lee Henty today, it was like Christmas this morning he was there passing out stainless nuts and bolts, just loved it and as we speak I'm drawing up my stainless list of kit I want to replace on my ride then will bounce down to Lee.

Again, great to meet you all today and look forward to see you all very soon.

Thanks to Ali for hosting another good day, and for fitting my new front PR4 Gt, it seems to work ok! and Lee for sorting my wheel bearings, glad we got around to sorting stuff on Ali's bike eventually! Good to meet a new face, you should try and make the G2G at Doms in July Chris, that bike's a credit to you! ( but I'm sure we can get you to spend more money on it!)

I was thinking coil too but it's so intermittent it's hard to know. It happened a year ago. After a plug change it went away. Now it's back with no rhyme or reason. It was perfect on the way down to Ali's but started when we left. We stopped on the way home after the Ace cafe cos it was no fun in London traffic. We whipped off the fairings and it was still running rough while idling. I removed the top connection from the left coil and the bike stopped altogether. Went to the opposite side, did the same and the bike ran on just one cylinder. Put it all back together and it ran perfect for the rest of the half hour spin home. Does that tell you anything? Electrics are NOT my strong point!

Ive done quite a bit to it recently and worried I've upset something-

New battery

Running lights wired in (to tail light) using existing wiring from previous DRL's

Cleaned air filter

Cleaned a load of mouldy gunk from under tank and surrounding pipes which accumulated when it lived outside.
There are those who type a lot, and then there are those who ride a lot.
so it's the right hand coil

Thanks all. Once again, the weather gods were kind and at lot of work was done, but lots of tea and cake were scoffed as well as a number of bacon and sausage rolls. What more can you ask for. My new bike is now sporting a centre stand, luggage racks and a Mira screen. Still got engine bars, renthals and drls to fit, but shouldn't be greedy. Oh. Nearly forgot. We got my new bike lift in place in the garage.

Thanks all for coming.

2012 900 - Still adding shiny bits. Was black, changed to white and now back to black again.

Quote:so it's the right hand coil

Thanks Lee. I envisaged buying plugs, HT leads, stripping down all the wiring, coils and god know what else before I worked it out. 😄
There are those who type a lot, and then there are those who ride a lot.
so you have problems in the right hand ignition system, go looking for dodgy connectors or it could be the coil is breaking down when hot. Try cleaning the mount points of the coil and both terminals, the ht side needs a good earth. Sounds like the ht output is getting weak so when the plug get a bit past it it's not strong enough to spark it.

Pattern part is only 20 squids

I've had some intermittent cutting out in the wet before. My right-hand HT lead was touching the frame and upon very close inspection you could see evidence of it shorting out (slight mark on the frame). A few layers of electrical tape around the contact area and it was sorted!

Anyways, fettle day sounded fun! I'll try to make it next time if there is such a time!

BSM I take it you have wrapped the HT lead in self amalgamating tape.

No but I will now.
There are those who type a lot, and then there are those who ride a lot.
first thing to try, niners are known for this fault, HT lead arcing to the frame.

So sorry I couldn't make this. Called out at stupid o'clock last night and didn't get up until about 11am. Looks like it was a good one too. Wanted my link arm looking at too!

I have done my wifely duty and ordered coil and self-amalgamating tape. I think our next date night will be a spark hunt in a dark garage! Deep joy! Smile
