What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today?
looks like a real bikers kitchen to me, there is a piccy of studley ramod's engine sitting in front of his gas fire in the lounge somewhere on here when he was rebuilding his bike.

Cooking landrover gear rings in her oven will get you into trouble with the lady of the house.  :hide:

The gaitors more than pay for themselves in not having pitted fork stanchions. Just a bit of messing around to get them on.

Smile

As for gaitors I agree with Lee, for the 45mins it takes me to fit a pair they are worthwhile imo, I don't think I could leave the bike without them, the TDMs forks seem to attract crud!

Hardly ever used to change fork gaiters back when we were ripping old XL Hondas and the like around.

Good rubber seems to be a luxury now days.

Quote:s'what concerns me about those gaitors, lots of peeps report they don't last.

I got the ones for Triumph 2001 on from wemoto, (15 pounds), they fit the 850 perfect, they still look good after more than a year, seems like the OEM ones for  Kawasaki  w650 fit the triumph (and so the tdm) well too, peeps on internet claim they are of high quality rubber that last many years..  about 50 $ US from a kawa dealer (in the US).

Just went to fit a new rear disc to the mk1, feeling chuffed because it cost just £24 from China....and discovered it is warped, from the centre outwards.

Always a sucker for a cheap bargain, I blame my Yorkshire genes. Email of complaint already sent.....

<p style="text-align:center;">Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.
I caught a  3mm allen key stroking at the back end of the exhaust cans, and when i went out for a ride I was followed by a glorious cacophony of sound because the db killers were out.....if only I'ld known Smile Smile Smile

Bled my refurbished front calipers - nightmare job that ended up taking hours and copious amounts of brake fluid, a syringe and lengths of pipe, even with no air bubbles still no pressure, just kept at it until finally we got something. Thanks Steve, ( Sagalout) for your patience. Lever now cable tied to bar and hopefully all will be well by the morning, why do the easy jobs always turn out to be the hardest??
The Blue One : 2004 model owned 2010-2018 much loved, much missed and now living with a man in Scotland Spain.

The Black One : 2010 Model Registered 2013 owned 2018 - present .Beowulf Cans. Renthal 755s Grip Puppies,15w fork oil,DL650 handguards ,givi engine bars ,led spotlights, gipro gear indicator, shortened dogbones, LeeHenty CSM kit and stainless bits, Topsellerie seat,MRA Xcreen,.PC III (dynoed). K&N airfilter,Fenda extenda. Lots of stainless/titanium.

Went for the for the first big shake down run (in sunny north wales, bound to get a letter from plod soon, still cheaper than paying for the service !!)  after doing valve clearances and all other jobs in the 24k service, and can report that I'm still wearing the smug smile I adopted after the first few miles!!

If anything, the bike feels perkier right through rev range, and the occasional stall seems to be a thing of the past!!

Jobs a carrot!!  :badgerrock:

Lock onto my co-ordinates and beam me up !!

04 900 - 92 mk 1 - r 1150 rs - Z550 A1 - 2x bonnies - plastic slug -XL185 - ...not in that order !! (and one or two i don't want / dare to own up to !!)

Failing that, a similar problem I had with my FJ11 was cured by pressurising the master cylinder so the fluid is forced down past the cylinder/piston with each pump. I took the lid off the master cylinder and held a piece of plastic tubing between a couple of fingers with my hand clamped over the cylinder - As i blew down the pipe and after just a few pumps the airlock was shoved down to the calipers

SometimesI use a vacuum tool for brakes they can be difficult bleed.
I remember it taking a while when we put the new lines on Lee, especially the rear one!

Mr Henty popped round for a coffee and when he left, the hugger, radiator grill and LED tail light had magically been fitted to me bike!

Can't say thanks enough Lee, The hassle you've saved me is one thing but the peace of mind knowing the job is done right is priceless!

:good:

Rode it!

With a long haul coming up at the end of April from Harlow to Newtonmore in the Highlands and back over a long weekend, I thought I'd see how my stamina faired after such a long time off the bike. We went to the north Norfolk coast for fish n chips but Norfolk was closed so we had a sarny instead. Clocked up 245 miles today! I'm totally bolaxed but feeling triumphant. My confidence is returning and I'm no longer expecting my new knee to drop off!

We had wall to wall sunshine apart from a bit of fog around Ely but it wasn't very warm. Brrrrrrrrrrr!

Al's (BSM) bike has developed and elictrical glitch; the battery isn't holding a charge. Hopefully it's just a failing battery.
You don't need balls to ride a big bike.

Rode it to test the gear indicator all works very well, popped in for a coffee with proudviking and sort of got carried away, well the bits were all there, :yeyeye:  shame not to fit them to the bike   :hide:

I have a full set of MkI discs from China, cost about £80 (incl postage) - all warped. I felt so stupid I couldn't even get myself to be mad. Planning on using the discs for an installation of some kind  Huh

Rode mine too, at last... loved it Smile

A mate got some "unbranded" disc's some time back, one ride they warped so bad the lever pulsed so hard you could not even keep your fingers on it!! Dangerous!

My daughter used to play percussion, I'll ask her if she wants this one to tap on, if the seller doesn't want it back

Brand new, no damage to the packaging to suggest interference during transit...

The warpage is only present for around about 90 degrees of the disc's circumference, the rest is perfectly flat !
