Can confirm it's been done!
Â
I was running Renthal Streetfighers on a previous 9er, and had them tapped for the Yam bar ends.

I just tapped a set of 755 bars for AliG, plenty of meat in them for a good thread.

I've used Steetfighters on a previous TDM, but very low (was ok for me).
Â
Only issue was when I added hand guards (DL ones), as bolt caught top of the side panel.
Â
755 seem to be the most used on here.

I used the High bars on my ol mk1, cables stretched to their limit once I'd fitted bar risers though.

They were all taken after I put risers on to allow the DL handguards to clear the plastics.
Â
I've got 755 waiting to be fitted. Won't have the same rake as the Streetfighters, but based on others comments will be a world apart from OE bars.
Â
I may end up getting streetfighters again - depends how I get on with the 755's.

So, how do you fill the bars with silicon or sand? Mine seem to have blockages a few inches from the end. Need to do sommatt as I'm getting numb hands from bar vibes (can't use weights with the storm hand guards).
Thnx

What about a cheap handlebar brace from ebay ? A brace can help to reduce vibes by shortening the length of free bar which can resonate on it's own. I'm waiting for one to arrive for my Renthals.....
Â
I've ordered one of these, I'll let you know how it goes ...

when my brace arrives I'm also going to wrap a thin layer of self amalgamating tape around the bar, where it's clamped, to see if that filters out some vibes too

I have 2 risers on mine, bar end weights and BMW hand guards. Can't say as I noticed any extra vibration in the bars.

Is it necessary to drill for tapping size of M16x1.5 or just use the tap directly into the original ID?

The original ID is so close to tapping size its not worth trying to drill it. Use plenty of cutting fluid. I made a guide tool to start the tap. Be careful if holding bars in a vice its easy to deform them. I use a 22mm collet in a Stevensons block myself.
