What Have You Done To Your Tdm Today?
Quote:I'm finally getting round to wash mine after a week recovering from a 3500 miles round trip to Narvik & the Lofoten Isles off the north of Norway.

Both the TDM and Francois's Varadero behaved perfectly apart from both bikes getting blown off their side-stands & suffering some cosmetic damage.
Brilliant. How about some pics Smile

Will get round to it when my feet touch the ground, in the meantime just do a search on Narvik or Lofoten isles and you wil get a good idea of the place

Today I fitted the Delkovic pipe, beautiful quality and a lovely deep sound, the 450mm is ideal in my opinion as great sound and not too loud or intrusive.

Changed the oil and filter, fitted new crush washers all round,

Changed coolant ,

Fitted sump gaurd,

Just waiting for the fuel pipe reducers and chain gaurd then it's off to the Mot station.

Desperate to get out on her-like a kid waiting for Xmas !!!
New boots.

Just cleaned up my '94 and she's looking like a 12 month old bike, folks talk about Yamaha build quality but I think my TDM is unbelievably good. I still say ACF50 is the best thing you can use to protect your bike, I use a paint brush to work it into all the nooks and crannies. It also takes chain oil off the back wheel, best you spray it on the sponge first instead of accidentally squirting the tyres!
Valve clearances adjusted ! Cam chain tensioner seems a little bit slow to pick up slack, as ~10 revs were required for the final 'tick' to appear and have proper tightness established. Now a walk in the park assembling all the plastic and steel litter spread around.... ;-)

and restored wheels to their rightful place and took the dead tyres to the tip.

Fitted the missing collet/washer ordered from the dealer last week.

Had a coffee and catch up with Trevini yesterday which involved me sitting on his bike and there's now a set of 755 rentals on order.

Cheers Trev. :good:

After my first run out and parking her up for about 3 weeks after, the battery died on me. All I got was repetitive clicking from the relay when hitting the starter button. Battery measured 13 Volts but when pressing the starter button the voltage dropped to 3 volts. Tried several chargers etc but no joy. Read up here as how to remove the battery and was trying to anticipate on losing skin on hands, throwing spanners and mugs etc. Battery box was out in less than 10 minutes... and I've got very big hands...just waiting on my new battery to arrive this afternoon, hope it goes in as quick as it came out...

How typical...wrong battery arrived grrrrrrrrrr YUASA YTX12-BS, doesnt fit...told him it was a YT12B-BS grrrrrrrrrr

Got it up and running again after valve clearance adjustment ! Ain't that the most beautiful sound, when cylinder #2 kicks in and everything is smooth, no clunks, no oil pouring out, no coolant leaking.... :pimp:

A good day !

Fitted a couple of alloy tyre valves I got from M and P. Won't buy them again as the threads on the wheel side are very sloppy but I wasn't sure if the rubber ones on the bike were original.

Also did the air box mod.
