Quote:Hello all, I've just bought an '02 900. Ridden back from Bath to west yorkshire. Never ridden a twin before so found it strange at first, but did plenty of overtakes up the Fosseway and found there was plenty of power. I had an fz1 before and found the high revs and power unuseable in day to day riding. TDMs power is very useable and there's plenty of torque for my style of riding. Like the riding position, though the dash seemed miles away. It's fair to say my bike has not been loved, but that's why it was so cheap.
So just to get some essential add ons- engine bars, luggage rack and taller screen and fit my hot grips, and I'm sorted.
Few mechanical issues to sort- indicators flash too quick and suspension is awful... probably badly adjusted and can be certain fork oil has never been changed. The idle speed whe warm is 1500 rpm. Thzt seems quite fast to me. Can anyone tell me what it should be?

idle speed on a 900Â is between 1100 and 1200 RPM, i find it works best when it's closer to 1200

Hi Jonathan,
Â
Regarding your idle speed - it can be adjusted via a small knob on the RH side of the frame near the oil filler cap. Might also be worth checking your cold start plunger isn't stuck, this can cause the bike to idle at high rpm.

I've just bought a mark 2 850 and love it! I'm from stoke-on-trent and have owned a rather eclectic mix of bikes previously! Enfield, katana, z200, cb360, gt185 and my last one, 1988 Kawasaki zx10. That's up for sale if anyone wants something fast and heavy but cheap! Lol! Regards, Simon

Hi allÂ
My name is Tim am in Whitworth near Rochdale (north Manchester) been riding TDM about 6 months and I love itÂ
THANKS LEWIS
Got rid of my 02 GSXF600 Â Oow my back did about 100 miles a year on it for the last 4 years. Have all ready done
over 1000 miles on the TDM no back pain have all ready added give top box and panniers self made brackets  .
All I got to do now is refurbish the forks orry: and get the swing arm off and paint, powder coat or poss chromeÂ
will be looking for some ideas to do the forks on here I believe they are a bit of a bar-steward to do.
will be looking to upgrade my front brakes as well Lewis has done them and he says they are 100% keener.
Â
no doubt I'll be in touch Â
Â
Cheers Timbo Â

Quote:Hi, new to here last week. Have bought TDM 900A 2005 registered 2006. Silver/blue colour. Had ridden 2 mates 850's and loved them- totally different to my beloved zx7r (red). 18k on clock and 3k it cost me. fsh and all docs/book stamped and receipts. Has great quality/condition pannier set(yamaha). Has scottoiler and heated hotgrips. Datatool alarm and immobiliser. Just needs some cleaning and also engine bars and pannier racks need plastic coated. Bought +145mm touring screen(yamaha) and looking at what spot lights to buy, what brackets to get and to either paint or wrap the downpipes. re mapping probs too.Going to buy handguards. Done 300miles so far and love it. Getting used to gear ratio's compared to ninja!!
Must be a good combo cos I have a silver 06 900 and a much loved red ZX7R too (P3) what year is your ninja?

Hiya, I'm the proud new owner of a Mk1 850. I'm planning a little two up touring and just having a nice ride on it. I've been commuting on my KLR 650 since 2008 and have had a few other bikes through my hands over the years. I'm thinking of putting Givi luggage on this one. Very nice forum here folks I like the friendly banter vibe you have going here. BTW I live in Portland Oregon. Does anyone here have the Haynes in a downloadable format?
