Belgium may be small, but I still keep finding great riding roads every time we go out for a tour. So let me write up a shortlist.

The greatest region for riding is definitely the south of the country (Wallonia), but in the north (Flanders) there are truly excellent tours to be made as well. You just need to know where to look for them. In Flanders you also need to be aware of the many speed cameras [Image: ranting.gif] .

The best riding in Flanders is to be had in the coastal region, there are great twisty roads a few km's inland. Especially the roads around the river Yser and the single lane roads north and south of Bruges towards the Dutch border. But by far the greatest region in Flanders to go out for a spin are what is called "the Flemish Ardennes" in the neighborhood of Oudenaarde, Geraadsbergen and Ronse (well known names for the cyclism fans among you). Keep to the back roads, be prepared for some cobblestone sections and enjoy the twisties, hills and views. [Image: good.gif]
Just south of Brussels there is also some fun to be had just below Waterloo and Rixensart.

But for the best roads in Belgium you need to be in the south, the Ardennes. Basically, once south of the rivers Sambre and Meuse pick any yellow road (green bordered ones are best) on a Michelin map and you're set. Imho the most fun stretches of road are the valley of the Samson and the valley of the Molignee and the road near the Eau d'heure is great as well. [Image: banana.gif]

And for the Ultimate Ride through the Ardennes I have a GPS route that starts near Liege and ends near Namur and takes you through some superb twisty roads with great variation in the Ardennes and through the Luxemburg Eifel region. About 400km of pure fun. [Image: yahoo.gif]

Anyone coming through Belgium to the Nurburgring and claiming that there's no pretty way to do it must have never gotten of the highway. [Image: tongue.gif]

Hello Rene, and welcome to Carpe - sometimes strange but always friendly [Image: smile.gif]

You're the first, I think, but hopefully not the last, of our German colleagues to make contact. I'm sure your knowledge will be appreciated by those who will be visiting Germany this summer. I've also put out a notice regarding your own June meeting in Schwaben (und uebe, "Wie heischest Du?" zu fragen! [Image: rolleyes.gif] ) which looks excellent [Image: good.gif] .

I Think there are many friends in Schwaben, they know a campingplace which are cheap but good comfort etc. If you want I ask them for Informations about that.

Deutsche TDM location for their June meet looks good (see other thread), with indoor or camping options - further south though?
Could they piggyback RTT07 at their block rate?

Hi Ralf, and welcome - thanks for joining us. Do you have any suggestions to help Toneski with the accommodation problem in July? re there any biker-friendly places in the Ruppertshofen area?

hi everybody, pict.

first, thank you very much for the friendly welcome. as far as i've seen, a few of the german forumisti have joined here already. this is going to be fun, i believe.

sadly i've no idea where toneski might find accomodation. perhaps rene (rheinländer) knows more, because he lives in cologne. my location is near bochum and dortmund, and i ride along more in the sauerland region than in the rhine valley.
most of the hotels in germany have started to realize that motorcyclists on tour aren't the classical outlaws any more, but people who can spend money, since motorcycling has become an expensive hobby rather than an means of mobility for bankrupt rockers [Image: wink.gif]

perhaps we should start a thread in the "westdeutschland" (western germany) part of the german forum. chances are good that there will be some more competent answers than my incoherent gibberish. [Image: yeahyeahyeah.gif]

Hy Guys,

so in my opinion Ruppertshofen is in Schwaben not in Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Or I find a Ruppersthofen in Rheinland-Pfalz Landkreis: Rhein-Lahn-Kreis

Which is the right place, Schwaben or Rhein-Lahn Kreis?

I think its Rhein-Lahn- Kreis

If thats true i would try to help you to find a good accomodation.

If you want feel free to give an input to me.

for example maximum price, komfort , Camping and so on

greetings
Yes, I believe it's Rhein-Lahn-Kreis (I'm probably unable to go) - see posting #1. Thanks for coming in on this.
