I never bother, and never had any problems. Maybe that's because no-one wants my bike!
MotoGuzzi Norge 1200GT. for Euro touring
Triumph Street Triple. For those hooligan moments......
Beta Alp 200. For falling off In muddy bits.
I suffer from C.D.O. It's like O.C.D. but all the letters are in the correct order, just as they should be.

Quote:Some advice needed from you seasoned travellers please....... what level of bike security when touring is the norm in your opinion? I have a disk lock that goes everywhere with me but is it overkill to pack a chain and padlock too?
Â
Do you think when we park along with 10 motorcycles, a thief would take your bike. :badgerrock:
Possible he is a thief and takes all the bikes. :rotflmmfao:Â

Frank, I just take a disk lock for town parking or if we get the chance for a leg stretch. If a thief can get a disk lock off a chain is not going to be an obstacle. I suppose you could chain it to some thing else but how often does that opportunity arise.

I know you can never be too careful but I never feel that crime is as bad in France as it is in the UK, however I don't want to tempt fate ?

Disclock is enough. There is a big O'l garage there that will take all the bikes so no worries.

I try & pay cash, but in rural areas there seems to be a lot of unmanned stations. You need to put a credit card in before it'll let you have fuel. â¬50 a day all in should be ok, plus accommodation on Monday night in St. Malo. And beers on the ferry going! Depends how many miles we do on days out.

So now thinking of breakdown cover.
Anyone used vehicle rescue direct - £22 for a single trip appears quite good?
