Latest Stats On 4X4 Drivers Using Phones Whilst Driving

Yesterday some official stats were issued to point out that motorists using phones were four times more likely to be in 4x4s.

Apparently 'they feel safer' in that type of vehicle..

So that's all right then.

No doubt the same stats apply to Volvo drivers.

It's all crap, 4 x 4 drivers sit higher so are more visible (and have better visibility) so are easier to pick out



No I don't drive a 4 x 4 I just get fed up of people picking on drivers of vehicles with 4 wheel drive

I help out a local company driving a left hand drive Scania drawbar unit, so I you can't see me in my mirrors, then I sure as hell can't see you.



I can state that what I see is many more women on the phone while driving, but worse than that, many do their make up on the way to work in the car!!!

Reason I raised this topic was simple: hoping to save a lot of grief.

It seems every other week some innocent biker, eg: one 40 year old woman last week just down the road from me, gets wiped out by some total twat-headed hooray henry who doesn't give a toss.

I was nearly hit earlier this year, which made me decide that ultimately it was time to give up biking.

Glad I no longer have to commute, I could see a few mirrors missing and doors with boot marks.

A bad case of stereo typing here!! I bought a Volvo V70 3 months ago. It is a great practical family car.

I haven't changed over night into a bike killing maniac who pulls out at every corner without looking. It isn't about what you drive, more how you drive.

When I'm in the cage my phone is switched off unless I have a passenger to answer the call.

I'm a bike Instructor in real life so spend between 8 and 12 hours a day on my bike............most phone users.........GERMAN cars drivers,(Audi,Merc',Beemers,VW etc), biggest pricks out there.....German Car drivers.......The one's we ALWAYS tell students to look out for .....yep German car drivers.......Sorry but fact, well at least it is up here in the North.
