will be riding those roads in a couple of weeks Mark. We will be able to feedback on our return.
One of the downsides to the Vosges mountains however, is that they have their own micro climate - ie it pisses down a lot!

Good bunk-house and they do accommodate a lot of German bikers. Nice guy showed me and the wife around. Area is fantastic. Big communal dining room and Garden area. Beer fridge.
However,
Montvilliers is 6 houses miles from anywhere. No option but to eat their food and drink their beer. Nothing withing walking distance, No self catering. No Camping.
Can throw this in,, it's where i stayed with amenities 5 mins away and 11 Euros per night ,, good location for the Alps,,in fact the road outside will get you started up them. Of course there are many more around,

From CARP [Carpe's Alpine Roving Patrol] - Traveling incognito on the GTR1400 for this couple of weeks:-
While traveling from Bourg St Maurice to Abbeville, I accidentally went up the St Bernard pass (31Km of twisties). Realised I had gone up the wrong-un when I saw the Italian border. Doh! Me and the wife had a picture with a plastic St. Bernard, then drove back down and took the correct route through Beaufort to Abbeville.
Called in to the above mentioned camp site today
Typical French Municipal; cheap, cheerful and clean.
3 minutes walk into Abbeville town centre, where there are loads of hotels and B&Bs for the not so rufty-tufty outdoor types like what I am.

We talked about the Colmar region for the next RTT on the Northern Ireland RTT. It was also mentioned by Hans that the German TDM group are holding their Mega Treffen 200 miles to the north in Bitburg.
