Mrs Saga Nicked For Speeding
FFS, NIP arrived today for Mrs Saga caught doing 35 mph in a 30 on the A325 through Bordon in Hampshire. I thought you got away with 10 percent + 2, which means you would only be nicked doing 36?
Now on 9er number 2 .....

10% of thirty is 33 plus 2 is 35

I think it used to be the 10%+2 when it involved a police officers time and effort to prosecute, anything less and it wasn't worth it financially for the cops to do you.

Looks like they can now make a healthy profit from it !

How accurate is a speedo supposed to be ? And what difference in reading is there between that of a new tyre and an old wan ?

When I left the Police in 2007 They were reducing the NIP from 36 to 35. One of the main reasons was the reduction of drivers getting caught at 36, so many had already.

Ask Paula to request a Speed Awareness Course
I'm with Cats.

When I was caught doing 38 in a 30 I got the offer of the speed awareness course and took it. Means no fine (although the fine was cheaper than the course), no points on your license and therefore no risk of insurance problems down the road.

I actually enjoyed the course. I didn't agree with some of the philosophies (the instructor I had was pushing for up to 25mph in a 30 saying it was fast enough, for example and he was critical of using any engine braking saying it should all be done on the brakes, plus other ways that were opposed to the way I was taught to drive) but it did give me some tips to help manage speed better. I would recommend it. The only downside is giving up a day.

What the speed awareness instructor told you actually conflicts with what my riding instructor and examiner told me

I was encouraged to ride at the maximum legal speed where it was safe to do so and I could have failed my test for not doing so, it's called making lack of progress.

And, you can guarantee that some muppet in a car will be up your tailpipe if you do 25mph in a 30mph limit

Done: Homo sap navigation/ twisty thing on bars to make it go vroom/ grabby thing to make it stop (in front of twisty thing)/ 'leccy things front and rear to make it glow at night/ Sucky + drippy oiler thing to keep chains moist (!!) / Laser Pro Stock Race pipes / bleeding ear drums (see previous mod)

I think my speedo is out by about 3mph at 30mph and that's saved me loads of times.
