Can anyone supply the bearing numbers for the three rear wheel bearings <i>for a 900</i>?
None of the after-market parts books list em, and , although I thought I had found someone who knew what they were doing, I found myself with a rear wheel out, and bearings for an 850 (I assume) in my hand. Rather frustrating
Anyone able to help?
Standard after market bearing numbers would be great, I have the Yamaha numbers, but they are pretty expensive.

04 900 - 92 mk 1 - r 1150 rs - Z550 A1 - 2x bonnies - plastic slug -XL185 - ...not in that order !! (and one or two i don't want / dare to own up to !!)

what kinda mileage did you get out of the original wheel bearing?
there's a place i use where, if you take a bearing or seal / o ring in, they'll measure and match...dead cheap and never got it wrong. may be the way to go. (have even been known to give away the odd o ring etc if i mention biking!!)

just take all the numbers off the edge of the bearing ,and take them too your local bearing stockist, they should be able too match them.(if they end in -1,that means they have a seal on one side,so you can buy-2 and take a seal off on one side)hope this helps.

Trouble is the bearings are in the wheel, and the wheel is on the bike, and the bike is my only means of transport to go and get more bearings!

TheYamaha fiches only show the Yamaha part numbers, and I kinda begrudge paying 70 odd quid for a 15 quid set of bearings!!
whats the yamaha part no's then
usually the bearing code is embedded into the yamaha part no somewhere
ie if it were a 6204 bearing, then those numbers would be somewhere in the yamaha part no.
My bike shop always look at the yamaha part number then comes up with the std bearing number this way

Well, going on the previous way they are coded the wheel bearings would be 6078's and the cush drive bearing would be 6206.
Never heard of 6078, but 6206 is a std sized bearing freely available from your local friendly bearing stockist.
Maybe Yamaha have used a 'special' to force you to buy them from Yamaha - they did it with the shock linkage on my moto-xer. The one bearing was a total special that was only available in Japan. Bastards.
Just looked at a 850 parts list and the sprocket carrier bearing is decoded as 6372, but the bearing is actually a 6322, so seems Yamaha don't always play ball.
If you can wait til Sat, I can go down my local shop and see if they know what they are.

Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

No worries, and dont bust a gut, it's not <i>that</i> urgent, I aint in a hurry to take my back wheel out again in the pouring rain, although it will need doing eventually.

You could try taking the measurements to a local bearing factor to see if they can help, as Yamaha sure ain't making the bearings themselves, they are sourcing them from somewhere in Japan.
I did this when trying to avoid paying Yamaha's rip off prices for the shock linkage bearings on my YZ250. It turned out 1 of them was a total special that was only available in Japan. They said they had a rep in Japan and would contact him to see if he could source it there, but I gave in and paid Yamaha's price. I thought that by the time shipping had been added, plus the wait I might have, it was better to get the Yam bearing as it was holding up my rebuild.
I hate it when they do this - robbin' bastards.
Its the same with oil seals - they're std of the shelf parts which are also available from your freindly local bearing stockist
