I think we should be right once todays rain has dropped... the system is moving fast and it doesn't appear to be feeding like it was last night/yesterday. Looking at the radar now, and it looks like Trotski should be able to come up for a breath soon... most of the cloud mass is heading out to sea.

Still undecided BUT if I can't go south from Sydney I will go north. Looking at Tamworth, New England area for a couple of days.

I have planned a ride this weekend and I am going to have one !!!!!

WOW... As I was writing the above I had an unsolicited phone call.......

from the lodge /Motel people in Berridale. She recommended that we cancel as the roads themselves are "abominable" (her words) and that Cooma is likely to be cut off with floods soon. She is leaving for Sydney for other reasons but as we were riding down she wanted us to cancel. Gravel - water and branches on the main roads - I shudder to think what is on the run through to Khancoban

The Murray River at Biggara is expected to exceed the Minor Flood Level (2.0 metres) during Thursday afternoon.

Snowy Hydro advise that releases from Khancoban Pondage are expected to exceed the Minor Flood Flow (113m3/sec) during Thursday morning.

The Murray River at Bringenbrong is expected to exceed the Minor Flood Level (3.0 metres) during Thursday evening.

I've had 74mm in the last 24hrs and as I was going into Canberra this morning my road was starting to flood, Gooma has had evac warnings and all low level crossings are under water, I won't know till later this arvo if I can even get my bike out to the Hwy.

The Forecast is now showing 90% chance of rain till Sunday, though Azza is right it looks on the radar that the front is moving fast to the east, it doesn't look good.

I have spoken to Azza, who was talking to Graham as well, and wehave come to the conclusion that it would be safest for every one to cancel the weekend and reschedule, the Accomodation will hold the deposit (and also suggest rescheduling due to the conditions).

So sadly, we think it's best to please stay home and stay safe and we'll get back to you soon with a new date

I just spoke to Big Dave who said he won't be going because of the weather. He was going down to Berridale on Sunday.

The weather forecast for the whole area seems to indicate heavy rain on Friday and Saturday then easing gradually for Sunday and Monday. There is plenty of localised flooding which normally doesn't last long once the rain eases.

I've already withdrawn because of other reasons but I'd be happy if the 'event' was postponed ..... [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif[/img]

Under the circumstances I am sure that cancelling was the best decision. We are almost floating here in north east Vic. This would have been my first T D M gathering so I am particularly dissapointed. Hope we can reschedule it......Mitch.

I'm hearing reports of lots of gravel washed on to the Alpine way on corners and gullys (from some Snowy Hydro blokes who drive it every day) so I think it would have been more than a bit dangerous, particularly if the rain continues as forecast, i'll take a look at the long range forecast and propose a new date some time over the weekend.

I am really disappointed as this too was my first TDM event.

A mate & I have decided to head to the pub in Walcha north of Sydney tomorrow instead and will try to get a weekend in there. It may still rain a bit but no floods I hope.

yep, I can repeat the sentiments already posted.
Couldn't get there last time due to heavy work load so was really looking forward to this weekend. Even scored the 4 day weekend to make it all work.
I wasn't real pleased when I saw the long range forecast, even less happy when the radar was showing such heavy falls. Everywhere!
Other circumstances have now cut into Friday and Saturday so getting out of here for 4 days is now impossible.
Sunday and Monday are still looking good for a few km's.
Disappointed it's not happening but as it turned out for me, it's sort of the best thing.

Bit over 90mm here in last 24 on top of 45 in previous few days.
Sally, coming home from Dinner Plain today describes Cobungra Station as like one big river and gullies etc that never have a skerrick of water being chock a block. Its one of those times when the ground just oozes water everywhere. At home the dams are overflowing strongly for the first time since 1998, the creek is very loud. The best bit is that its been such a "kind" summer the grass is still green and so the runoff is causing minimal harm.
And its come from the north which is unheard of.
I just know you all wanted to know all that,
