Moto Morini's take on the TDM
It's still a prototype and currently goes by the name "MM3".

* 1187cc V-twin with probably +- 125bhp
* verlicchi frame
* designed by Marabese
* ride by wire throttle control
* ABS
* traction control

[Image: smile.gif] When I crashed the 900 and heard the frame was damaged(did'nt know how bad then) the first thoughts I had was to modify a TRX frame and put TDM panels onto it. It would have been quite similar I think.

Very similar looks I'd say, just a bit more trick stuff added, but is it really necessary....fashion I'd say. Just goes to show how far ahead of the game Yamaha were when they first brought the TDM out. Top marks to Yamaha, they must feel very flattered with all this copying going on [Image: good.gif]

I wonder what will last the longest, the company (Moto Morini) or the exhaust system.
MCN mention this bike. I like the look of it. [Image: smile.gif]

Impressive, I like it already. Look how that beautiful V-twin is prominently on display, you don't see that often anymore. And none of all that designer overkill, like on the horrendous Benelli Tornado. Very stylish [Image: good.gif]

Not sure if it'd make the ideal every-day bike the TDM is, though. But nice for Sundays, surely [Image: tongue.gif]

nice bike!

is it a TDM? nah far too fragile lookin

is it a 1200GS well lets see how it would hold up doing some major off-roading!

Not my kinda thing, whatever floats your boat. Also, you can't put the TDM and a 1200GS in the same category, both bikes are worlds apart (and the price tag tell that). Don't get me wrong, I have a great fondness for my TDM but it would be traded for a BMW at the drop of a hat if I could afford one, and I look at my bike as a middle-weight bike. In the same category as a 600 Hornet or SV650 only a lot more comfortable than either of the afore mentioned bikes and also more versatile but definately not a GS or KTM, or any other of those type of bikec, contender.

Cant be a serious competitor to the GS with Alloy wheels. At least not at this end of the world.

I have owned 8 BMWs in 19 years (including a R1150GS) and I can assure you a TDM isn't such a bad bike at all. [Image: good.gif] I still like the original and useful concepts BMW comes up with from time to time, but I kept having problems with the fragile transmission on the 4 valve boxers(gearbox/clutch/shaftdrive and the oil-seals between these components), and finish / winter-resistance is no longer a BMW stronghold either so that was the reason to go look somewhere else. I quite like the F800 range (I suspect the engine might be less prone to transmission problems), see if BMW brings out a GS version. But there's a good chance I hang on to the TDM a bit longer, and try finding an old R80GS to work on [Image: cool.gif]

The wire wheels are available as a no cost option on the 1200GS in Australia as the alloys are crap (they just bend) on rougher dirt roads that people do ride them on.

I've seen somewhere that BMW have confirmed they will offer a GS type F800, but no target date. If it has serious dirt usabilty it would be tempting.

Pre Paralever R80G/S was the pick of the bunch, every GS since has had some mechanical weakness.

He has one of these too, he's currently looking for a big touring tank for it, if anyone knows of one? BMW want £600 for an unpainted new one.
i like the Moto Morini, but i wouldn't buy one initially if i could only afford and need 1 bike fer all my needs as it is not "proven" yet in terms of reliability, spares back up etc tec. the engine just looks so big and heavy though ! it totally dominated the picture.
spyball alarm/immob,
bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir,
forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"
NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel
CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.

engine changed july 20
07 on a dyno run it made
79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I loike tay and hang sangwiches !

Loads of engine, low on gimmicks: It reminds me why I bought my first Buell in 1997 [Image: cool.gif]

I am not a fan of underseat exhausts either, but it's got to be high-up on this kind of bike so they might as well put it there. If you ever tried fitting panniers on an all-road bike without making it as wide as a family-sedan, underseat pipes with a well-isolated cover might not be such a crazy idea after all [Image: good.gif]
That was not a banana, Dougal
Umm, why do they have to be high up on this kind of bike?

Point taken re panniers, but if you wish to strap luggage to the seat, carry a pillion, or fit a rear rack (luggage for the carrying of) problems usually emerge. I'm just a practical old function before form type of guy, guess that's why I ride a TDM, but all underseat exhaust equipped bikes seem to have an ugly plumbers nightmare of pipes leading to the mufflers, as with the Morini. Fit 'em all under the bike like with the Buell and ER6 I say.
