Hi folks,
just coming back from Dundee after a wee blast today and Bugger me (just joking Thomas) didn't my speedo stop working!

So I had to slow down to car speed at every speed camera - and there's heeps between Dundee and Aberdeen.

Has anyone got a feel for road speed vs engine speed in each gear?
I was doing around 4,300 to 4,500 in 5th gear to maintain car speed which I assume is around about 70 mph

I'm assuming its just a new inner cable that's required. Is it easy enough to change?

I hope its not the drive unit or the speedo itself.

Any thoughts will be much appreciated.

PS - It was Baltic toady - but really sunny - I'll need to get the heated grips out of the box and get them fitted.
And get some suitbale hand guards too.

This thread may help.

The weak point is the cable and replacing it is a doddle. Check by unscrewing it from the housing on the front wheel and pulling out the inner. If it is broke you will easily see.

To change it you will probably have to remove the shroud around the tank and clocks, 5 minute job. Just make sure the cable locates properly at both top and bottom of the cable before you tighten the ends.
